<< And I find that making excercise "fun" and setting goals for myself works too.>>

Yes Popeye, making exercise fun (and not work or a P.I.T.A.) is absolutely essential and setting a goal, a realistic goal is always a good idea.  Baby steps for people who can't do the long term goal thing.

peeka -> RE: Overweight Male Doms (8/13/2006 1:23:26 PM)

As much as I am glad to see the table turned as it were, I must say and I do believe this to my core. Who cares, are you flogging, getting flogged, tide up or tying someone up or in other words getting off in your own lil way? If yes well good for you, keep the faith and have a blast, if you're not call me, lol.

Hang ups like weight and the like are a complete waste of time and effort, just about as much as debating them is. If you put to much effort straining to see the pageant winner in the convertable at the end of the parade, well, you're gunna miss the parade. That's just sad.

popeye1250 -> RE: Overweight Male Doms (8/13/2006 1:49:27 PM)

Just got back from the gym and had a good vigorous workout!
Now I'm enjoying the tightness of my muscles, the endorphin rush and sweating.
I took a shower right before I left so this is "clean sweat."
And I saw an older couple there both probably in their 60's and way overweight, good for them!
I hope they stick with it because I'd like to see them in 4 or 5 months from now to see the progress they make.

Level -> RE: Overweight Male Doms (8/13/2006 1:54:03 PM)

I'm going to go take a sunset tour around town later, stop off at Taco Bell, get a grilled, stuffed burrito, head home and do 3 or 4 pushups. Ah, my goals grow ever closer.

EvilGeoff -> RE: Overweight Male Doms (8/13/2006 1:56:50 PM)

There 4 forms of exercise I actually enjoy:

Bicycle riding - low impact, easy to do, works out the legs and cardiovascular system.  Good stuff!
Swimming - same as about but also works out the arms & shoulders.
Racquetball - Chasing that little blue bastard around a court was a blast!
Sex - We all know how much fun that is.

Unfortunately I don't have a bike.  I was supposed to get one for B'day but other, more pressing things kept sucking away the money.  Maybe for Christmas now...
Don't have access to a pool or a racquetball court, the guys I played raquetball with don't live here anymore and I'm not really up to approaching strangers at a gym...
Sex - well that I can do for 3 or 4 minutes then I fall asleep so it's not much of a work out...  *LOL*

YIK,
- Geoff

Ahh you should come to Riata then...a large pool, with a small pool in each separate section, hot tub, large gym, saunas, tennis, racquetball and basketball courts, bike trails and equipment for all of them to rent for free.  We'll all tire ourselves out exercising, relax in the pools and hot tub and then get our kink on later.

Okay, people REALLY want to talk about weight? Really? Fine, then, I have a question.

Why do so many male doms criticize overweight subs they don't know, or will never meet, when they themselves don't have the willpower, or control over themselves, to lose their own weight?

Do they really think that the way their sub looks reflects on them as the master, but the way they themselves look, doesn't?

Do they think we don't notice when they say before meeting that they have a few pounds they can afford to lose, the few meant 30, 40, or more? Is this honest?

Go on, you want to talk about weight? Then lets discuss the men for a change.

::grumble::

For those overweight male doms the reason would be projection... point the fickle finger of fault to escape their own (aka: illusion).

Illusion is a world where everyone is a supermodel and/or a lean mean fighting machine... especially the fat ones, whether they be male or female gendered. Illusion often extends to the belief that a fat person with a loud voice or attitude is not as fat.

Similar to being unhappy with a full sized Chevy, but very quick to criticize those big huge Ford's and Chrysler's driving amongst all the lean mean luxurious low maintenance high mileage capable Honda's and Mitsubushi's on the freeway.

The excuse is the same really among both genders... it's there naked in the mirror looking back... hmmm is it live or is it illusion?

A change of behavior is required in order to effect a change in life... or you can make your own excuses and unsuccessful formulas... consume that ½ pound double greasy cheeseburger with extra mayo... but counter it's 1500+ calories by drinking a diet soda with a honey bun treat (500+ calories) for desert... that diet soda thing presents intent anyway!

No need to run down a list of celebs who were obese, then lean... then obese again... as their lifestyles and behaviors changed. Many have had successful weight reductions... by merely following their programs and effecting behavioral changes as opposed to excuses and reasons for yet another consumption binge.

Often people replace physical activities, especially SEX... with eating... no need for a success roadmap with that philosophy!

There's an old adage regarding men... that if you cannot lift your own body weight above your head... you are too fucking fat!

I've always been able to lift more weight over my head than my own body weight, but I'm sure if I let go and made excuses for the principle I would soon be considered too fat by that standard... as well as weaker, less tolerant to disease and not as healthy as has been normal.

Perhaps the key is using a formula you can judge realtime by... as opposed to labels with print so small you can't read the calories since your vision has become blurred by the high amounts of sugar and fats in your allowed (justified) intake.

Perhaps paying attention to the 5-6 ounces of chicken fat still attached to each of those 29 cents per pound leg quarters before flouring and tossing them in the fat to fry?

Taking a good hard look at what you consume may be frightening. Make a list of everything you consume each day for a couple weeks, then read it again as it has grown... see how aware you really were of what, and how much went inside you.

Dammit, Cin!!!
What were you thinking when you started this thread???
I am now sitting here drooling like a St. Bernard who needs a lobster bib.
Mind wanders off to thoughts of big, rugged, thick, powerful, pin-yer-arms-to-the-bed and whisper sexy things in yer ear that make yer undies turn into vapor and make ya' wanna wrap yer legs around them...  [8D]
Sorry, I digress...

Wow, I go away for 24 hours and this thread just keeps going like an Energizer Bunny! Glad it achieved the entertainment value it was intended to achieve!

Red, I had a gay friend once tell me: Darling, if they don't look like they can put me through a wall, they ain't worth getting naked for...

I understand now...

I've got to stay out of this thread, everytime I come in here and think about teddy bear men, I get those hot flashes...

It really helps to a) have a partner who helps motivate me and go with me and b) have a full gym, sauna, large pool, and hot tub a 5 minute walk away in the complex I live- makes it really hard to make excuses then.

Gawd, yes. For about 6 months I had a friend who was into going to Aquafit with me at a nearby pool. It was great, and I really want to keep going.

Now it's summer, the pool's closed until September, and she's been busy with a new boyfriend...And there went the excercise routine.

You have to just keep trying, no matter what life throws at you.

Keeping a food journal and documenting everything you eat can be a frightening reality check. But a very good one for those trying to improve or lose weight.

I totally agree. I love my BIG teddy BEAR Master.
I only can add that if a person is happy the way they are, Good! If not, change to be happy. I believe we all have the power to change, the problem is the willingness to follow-thru.

Just my Two Cents.

The reason I haven't put a photo on this site is because I know I will cop abuse from strangers as well as I know no matter how charming, funny, profound, whatever, I will be rejected purely because I am fat.

Yes, men get it too. I've seen men who were true gems get passed up solely because of their weight, and that makes me sad.

The attack on heavy people comes from fear. Everyone is vulnerable to weight gain, and the health issues it can bring. North America is facing a serious health crisis here, and people see an overweight person and are reminded that it can and likely will happen to them.

They attack from fear.

I think that can be a useful tool. It doesn't necessarily need to be done continually but it's good to get some baseline data.

I don't think I can add much to this thread but will chime in anyway. I am fit and healthy because I work out regularly and watch what I eat. I am not one of those rare souls blessed with a body and metabolism predisposed to leanness, so I have to work at it. It is worth it. Most of the time I feel good in mind, body, and spirit. It also seems to keep my sex drive at a pretty high level and gives me the ability to satisfy my urges...and my partner's.[;)] I guess it takes a bit of discipline to maintain a regular fitness regimen, but if I don't have the self-control to do it, then how can I hope to exert any kind of control over another person?

For me, being positive and offering support and encouragement is the way to go. Guilting and shaming are counterproductive.

Bob

Despot -> RE: Overweight Male Doms (8/14/2006 1:28:29 AM)

I'm a Dom and really big on spanking. I've been overweight most of my life and can still afford to lose about 20 lbs. If that is a problem, don't be my sub. I have no problem with overweight subs. In fact if they have a few extra pounds it usually means a fatter ass for me to play with.

Like the OP what gets to me is when a man posts a pic of himself obviously quite overweight and proceeds to declare that he is athletic and in shape and will only accept submissives who are in the best of shape.

This is one of those odd hypocrisies that people seem to ignore. How often do you hear people who smoke demand non-smoking partners? Or people who drink demand non-drinking partners?

It goes beyond that. I have a friend that was on here. She is literally gorgeous, educated and upper class. Her ad stated that she was looking for someone that fit into her world. She had men that had two teeth, wearing stained Tshirts and boxer shorts contacting her. (I was surprised at the large number that fit that description)

So let me get this straight....you're a disgusting pig and you think you have a chance with a doctor who is pretty enough to be a model?
