Yipppeee!!!!  Just in time too....I'm outta here for a bit!

Rumtiger -> RE: Drumroll please...Tigers Feast II!!! (9/27/2006 2:38:11 PM)

Okay next food item, this ones gonna be plenty more...out there.

This is a very common snack enjoyed along most if not all of Southeast Asia's numerous marketplaces, when prepared this particular way it is nice and crunchy, though without the cooking it would be a bit crunchy anyway. This is the food that I described in that little "behind the scenes" featurette thread I made a little bit back. The thing that makes this a bit more insane is that there was something small enough to be stuffed into the inside of the main thing i'm eating.

Creep Level - 6, an extra point for the extra little "kick" inserted into the thing.

Aileen68 -> RE: Drumroll please...Tigers Feast II!!! (9/27/2006 2:40:31 PM)

fried anchovies

Rumtiger -> RE: Drumroll please...Tigers Feast II!!! (9/27/2006 2:41:34 PM)

lol Anchovies would be tame compared to this, at least in our part of the world

Aileen68 -> RE: Drumroll please...Tigers Feast II!!! (9/27/2006 2:42:58 PM)

fried monkey innards stuffed with elephant eyeballs?

Rumtiger -> RE: Drumroll please...Tigers Feast II!!! (9/27/2006 2:44:39 PM)

monkey tastes funny.

but nope.

Aileen68 -> RE: Drumroll please...Tigers Feast II!!! (9/27/2006 2:45:29 PM)

I'm amazed that you can find anything that you would consider odd tasting

Rumtiger -> RE: Drumroll please...Tigers Feast II!!! (9/27/2006 2:49:07 PM)

oh theres plenty I find odd lol. dosent mean I wont try it though.

hm, okay a slight hint...the taste and texture of these things are considered to be like toast or potato chips.

but have a bit more protien I would think.

Rumtiger -> RE: Drumroll please...Tigers Feast II!!! (9/27/2006 2:52:59 PM)

as for what was inside...I am still slightly in pain.

zumala -> RE: Drumroll please...Tigers Feast II!!! (9/27/2006 3:17:12 PM)

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.  Found this article from 2005...

A weird species of rodent, totally new to science, has been discovered on sale in a southeast Asian food market. The rock rat - or kha-nyou as it is known in Laos - is unlike any rodent seen before by scientists.

The creature looks something like a cross between a large dark rat and a squirrel, but is actually more closely related to guinea pigs and chinchillas. The long-whiskered rodent has a thick, furry tail, large paws, stubby limbs and is around 40 centimetres from nose to tail.

What makes Laonastes aenigmamus so unusual is that it is not closely related to any other rodents. The researchers behind the find have had to create a whole new family, the Laonastidae, to accommodate it.

Rumtiger -> RE: Drumroll please...Tigers Feast II!!! (9/27/2006 3:17:13 PM)

guys, if you think "theres no way he ate what i'm thinking of" theres a pretty big chance I actually did.

That said, the thing I ate was not a mammal.

LaTigresse -> RE: Drumroll please...Tigers Feast II!!! (9/27/2006 3:18:26 PM)
