ORIGINAL: candystripper The bottom line is S/some P/pl use it and O/others seem to have an irrational dislike for it. Many of us hold a quite rational dislike for it, thanks. A rational dislike would be proportionate to the facts. It might be based on personal preference, grammatical correctness, legibility, etc. An irrational dislike is one the rises to the level of anger or even miffed, and seeks to control the conduct of O/others. Did that help any? candystripper Sorry to leave all the quotes in, but I do have a point. Your first post implies that there are only two groups. I know, you say some... and some.... but often, that is used to mean almost all are contained within those two groups. So maybe adding in a non-offensive opposing party next time may help the misunderstandings. (Kinda like saying some people like the Beatles, and others seem to be Nazis.) Second, I can have a rational dislike of something, get slightly emotional, and try to control others' behaviour. Take kicking puppies (nonconsentually) Rationally, I dislike it, because it is cruel. Emotionally, it pisses me off. And if I see someone kicking a puppy, you can be damn sure I'll send some flowers to their funeral. So my emotional dislike of T/tH/hI/iS/s can be based on rationality, and still be valid. Especially if it is inconsistent. Yours, benji
