I;m really curious as to what you all think.

I can't tell you how many times I've read a profile here on CM, found it interesting, and wanted to know more about the person, so clicked the button which says view forum posts and..................nothing.

I really don't understand it. The best thing about CM (as opposed to another site which will remain nameless as well as clueless) is the thoughtful, intelligent, (okay, also wise ass) posts by people who (mostly) know damn well what they are talking about. Even the one or two post wanker wonders are amusing and illuminating in one way or another in what they are telling us.

I can understand not posting photos, but some of the conversations, which take place here, the questions or information which is exchanged  must be of interest if kink enough a part of your life to post a profile. No?

I've written to people who never post and often they are bright, intelligent, curious and write welll.

Are the people who post here a different species? Or is it something as simple as some people like age play or scat or cross dressing and others don't?

Not everyone has the time to contribute to a forum. Some people barely have time to check their e-mail. Maybe that is why more people don't post.

MasterFireMaam -> RE: Those who do not post (2/2/2007 2:00:42 PM)

I've never seen this button...where is it?

-----

Nevermind...it only shows up when you're looking at the "short" profile that you see when searching. Cool. Learn somethin' new everyday.

MasterFireMaam at the top of a topic it shows who is there looking, if you move Your cursor over the name it is a hyperlink. If you click it, it will show all the posts they have replied to.

That probably has a lot of merit. Also, not everyone likes internet forums. The trolls and the flaming can dissuade a lot of people from venturing here.

toservez -> RE: Those who do not post (2/2/2007 2:19:00 PM)

Not everybody and in fact most people do not use this message board or any other. Many on the other side are there just to try to find their other. Even if interested and click over to the message board they might not post for many reasons.

It is a simply to each their own type thing. Personally I have zero interest in IM and I may not understand the appeal but I do understand that many people enjoy it, but I get my fair share of messages of people wanting me to IM with them. It is about preference, time and other factors.

What I enjoy or find useful has very little bearing on what others might enjoy or find useful.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Those who do not post (2/2/2007 2:31:14 PM)

Partially it's because collarchat isn't the same site as collarme.  Lots of people might not have discovered this side of things.

Partially because that's the nature of online forums.  You're doing insanely well to get 10% of the population actively posting.  Most people lurk.

Partially because this forum ISN'T for everyone.  Forums have personalities and not all of them mesh with everyone who comes around.

And partly because of mean icky posters like me who make newbies feel unwelcome and attacked.

HerEmeraldEyes -> RE: Those who do not post (2/2/2007 2:41:15 PM)

It took me a little while to start posting.  I'm not very up to date on politics, and between work, kids, serving master, keeping the house clean . . . I'm lucky to pee in peace (or while watched LOL) much less find time to sit down here.  (Normally I'm here at odd times or at 3 in the morning when I can't sleep)  Alot of the very awesome folks that post here have been posting for a long time - and like with anyone coming new into a new social group, there is always the worry (at least for me but I'm a worry wart) that you won't be accepted, welcomed, listened to etc.

Then again, it might just be rampant fear of Loki and the beautify Albatros.  Many people fear that which they cannot understand! [:D]

Interesting that you pose that question...in fact, it is a well known fact that those of us who post more often are 1) more intelligent and 2) much more (in my case) handsome.

Ironically, no one but yourself has ever made the connection.

I, for one, am glad to finally see the truth out in all its forms.

mymasterssub69 -> RE: Those who do not post (2/2/2007 2:48:51 PM)

i know Daddy doesn't have an interest in posting yet reads the forums while waiting for me to come home from reviewing bands.

I have to admit that I haven't frequently contributed (or for that matter even perused) the forums here simply because there isn't enough time in the day to accomplish all that I am obligated to. And it certainly is as LA mentioned, there are in fact a few who post here that do indeed make others feel unwelcomed. But in my humble opinion, she isn't one of those "mean icky posters".

The sign said "don't feed the Loki" fear is okay!

Vendaval -> RE: Those who do not post (2/2/2007 2:58:48 PM)

I would say that the time factor is a major reason.
And some people read the forums but almost never post,
many people are hesitant to post in a public forum
because of social anxiety or fearing they will
sound foolish.  Then there are the people who make
a profile and forget that it is up and active.

agirl -> RE: Those who do not post (2/2/2007 3:09:40 PM)

Compared to places I've *inhabited* in the past, the CM forum is one of the most genteel, restrained and interesting.

...and LA doesn't compare to some of the *meanies* I've come across.
