GOOD! With NAV, you need to make SURE you do... It all goes horribly, horribly wrong if it expires out.

it's the only antivirus program i trust

all4yourplsr -> RE: My pc crashed!!! (2/13/2007 10:17:30 AM)

My computer comes up with a Win32 error sporadically.  All I have to do to fix it is restart the computer but I never know when it will rear it's ugly head.  Anyone know how to fix it permanently?

bludemonn -> RE: My pc crashed!!! (2/13/2007 10:19:30 AM)

I agree there as have been running NAV for about 4 years, if you aint computer savvy before you get it you will be after a year! I think with Windows security being implemented especially with Vista it may soon negate the need for massive protection systems like NAV, basically i think whatever works for you stick with it.

michaelOfGeorgia -> RE: My pc crashed!!! (2/13/2007 10:19:51 AM)

michaelOfGeorgia -> RE: My pc crashed!!! (2/13/2007 10:21:19 AM)

the most popular feedback on VIsta is that it needs to go back to the drawning board and get the bugs worked out of it.

BOUNTYHUNTER -> RE: My pc crashed!!! (2/13/2007 10:26:27 AM)

bludemonn -> RE: My pc crashed!!! (2/13/2007 10:27:15 AM)

surely they did that with Longhorn the almost new version on Win they shelved for Vista.

farglebargle -> RE: My pc crashed!!! (2/13/2007 10:28:29 AM)

Vista might as well be called Windows 95 for all the progress they've made.

Aileen: If you go with the mac, I would advise you to buy the AppleCare extended warranty.
I have managed to twice destroy the power cord on my ibook (both times totally my fault) after my warranty ran out and they have replaced it without any issue both times, free of charge. I didnt even pay for postage. The warranty is good for three years and Ive already gotten my money back in parts.

bludemonn -> RE: My pc crashed!!! (2/13/2007 10:31:51 AM)

I think alot of problems with upgarding start when people dont listen, Vista is a rather large interface and require alot more Ram & updated videocard in order to run smoothly, people just go out and whack in the new O/S and wonder why error messages pop up all the time, abit like when people with win 2000 & win 98 tried to install XP and consequently booted out all there existing hardware drivers! I agree with Fargle in that good old Bill Gates knows that when he launches a new O/S he will sell a whole lotta hardware cos users in general dont wish to know the ins and outs of computers and so just buy a new one!

GrizzlyBear -> RE: My pc crashed!!! (2/13/2007 10:45:23 AM)

It isd always the case that when a new Microsoft OS comes out there are bugs, and a shortage of stable drivers for some hardware.  My clients see the ads and they are all asking me about Vista.  I tell them to wait at least till Service Pack 1 comes out, preferably till its time to do a major replacement of machines.  If they need one or two machines before then, XP is still a more stable choice and will run better on low end hardware.

Service Pack 1 is generally about 6-12 months after the initial release.

Dell always offers some machines with the old OS when the new one comes out, for their business customers who don't want to rush into a new OS, or don't want to mix in a different platform without fully testing it first.  Often they can be obtained with upgrade certificates.

OTOH, if you are about to buy a SOTA hot machine anyway, and like to experiment with your PC, you might as well jump in with both feet and get Vista.  Be prepared for a bumpy start.  And be sure your favorite apps will run on it.

I am not at ALL happy with Mac right now. Our main graphics beast that is only 1 year old crashed and burned. Thank god I am a nazi about back ups and thank god a friend has a brand new Mac laptop we are limping around with. Still the man hours wasted due to this little computer "error" sucks.

bludemonn -> RE: My pc crashed!!! (2/13/2007 11:00:47 AM)

Shhhhhh but i already got OEM Vista and the reArm timer crack....shame my pc aint got enough memory to run the bloody thing yet! I'm just waiting for the memory to arrive!

stef -> RE: My pc crashed!!! (2/13/2007 11:00:59 AM)

I can't help but wonder if all of the "knowledgeable" folks here who are dissing Vista have ever used it?  I'm guessing not.

Our IT department beta tested on several platforms and I'm still running RC2 and it's as stable as XP pro was.
