Aileen68, I am sorry, few things are as frustrating as any tool that will not work as it should. It is supposed to make things easy not add to your stress levels. I have some recommendations you can follow without being a computer pro. All I can say is they have worked for my friends and I for a lot of years. I would recommend after your computer gets debugged you check out the following: Leo Laporte: Leoville.com TV and Radio computer person who is PC and Mac savvy. He could help you make your choice Steve Gibson: grc.com This is the man who invented the term spyware and on his website there are free tests to run to tell how vunerable your machine is. Which ports are open, etc, etc, and how to make your machine more secure. http://www.diamondcs.com.au/ This is an Aussie security software company that has some wonderful free programs. Two of my favorites are: RegistryProt/ RegistryProt is a 100% free, standalone, compact, low-level realtime registry monitor and protector, that adds another dimension to Windows security and intrusion detection. Just 94kb RegProt is a jewel. I just sits there taking up almost no resourses and you never know it is there, until something trys to change your registery. Then you get a popup asking your permission, BEATIFUL! No one can ever change your computer without your knowledge and permission. It also has a two button simple interface to turn it off and on and to have it load or not when you boot up. So you can switch it off loading new software, and turn it right back on. DelLater NEW!/ DelLater is a tiny program that allows you to specify files to be deleted when Windows next boots, making it ideal for those situations when you can't delete a file because it's in use. Source code included. If anyone does ever get to you with an automatic reloader program, this will let you kill it so it does not load next time. It is also wonderful for stopping crap from loading that just uses resources you would rather keep free. Even stuff that normally does not show up, will on this list. You go to the website, click on products in the left hand menu. On the lower part of the products page are the freeware downloads. All of these are IN ADDITION TO: the standard advice of using Firefox insteed of Explorer, not using Outlook, having antivirus, I use AVG freeware, and a firewall which you set to ask permission before anything calls out. Then of course you need a nat router. even if you only have one computer. Leo and Steve Gibson will tell you why when you check out their lessons downloads. I am willing to teach but you have to do your own homework. As for roses and goddess dew; if you ever get to the west coast I would challange you on that. And I am sure I would enjoy having you prove it. All the best Outlier
