No, really - if you hate being an American, you should try something else out. I can't imagine why all those people are trying so hard to get into such an awful place like this in the first place. Can you?

While, like julia, I doubt this will have much of an affect, I would like to simply take a moment and thank you for encapsulating the modern ideals of America.

As a citizen who has served in the Marines, lived in Okinawa Japan for three years, and has been in Latin America for the past three years, I envy your ability to make such a bald faced statement.  That the world can be summed up into such simple statements such as "round em up and kill em" or "fuck them and their children" exemplifies the compassion and wisdom that the American People are capable of.

I am jealous of the view, that America can be isolationistic and ignorant; while at the same time enforcing the will of the US on any other country it wishes to, in the name of commercial dominance.  I think it would be far less expensive if we simply started unleashing our nuclear weapons on all those other pesky countries; after all, we can still pump oil from the ground, so long as the workers wear hardened radiation suits.  And there won't be any silly wars or countries to interfere with us, eh?

There is a lot of racism in Europe, and there are many people that hate immigrants all over the world...so perhaps I just hate ignorant people. Thanks for pointing out not only Americans are ugly with their ethnocentricity.

Yeah, aside from teh civil war,  New Jersey never invaded Pennsylvania. Ohio never invaded Michigan. Neveda never invaded California.  etc.
North dakota never invaded Minnasota.   Oregon never invaded Washington state.

there is a slight distrust [south -one day will rise again, they arent too keen on yankees.]

Even tho the EU is now formed. Im not conviinced teh various countries will trade their traditional ways=- to harmonize- culturally I dont see it happening.

Grant it, we are a new young country.  But 95% of us came from elsewhere. A melting pot. As a result- teh best and the brightest will often come to America.

My advice to you.  Replace your lightbulbs with the energy saver ones. I did one.

If every house did this- the energy conserved stats are mindboggling!!!

I was being sarcastic, thompson.

If we catch someone committing a crime with their children in tow, we have very few alternatives. Jailing them with their parents seems quite humane to me, at least we're keeping them together. If they have to sleep in special children's quarters at night, that's probably for their own good, in case there is a riot or something, they are kept safe. All that this hysterical crying is meant to do is to try to make us hate the people who are guarding our borders, and I'm not buying it. It's so crazy... if the President toughens border security, we're supposed to hate him (and be ashamed of being American). If he's soft on illegal immigration, we're supposed to hate him (and be ashamed of being an American). It's pretty clear what the message is here, and I'm poking a little fun at it, that's all.

Yeah, right - I'm with you. We need to treat illegals like they are royalty. If they're caught with kids, if they broke in with kids we should give them a billion dollars. I am so with you on this one.

I am not sure just how you make the leap from treating someone in a humain manner to giving them a billion dollars.
The post was primarily about the U.S. illegally detaining citizens of a forign nation and seperating the family.

American people, have a special birthright.  IN 1917- some big shot-got a bullet put in his head. Setting off WW1, later ww2.  Germany and Japan were seeking global domination.  With out America [people, our fathers and grandfathers]    Much of the world would be under an iron fist.

We bailed out the worlds azz 2x.

Therfore- we earned our standing

Later generations will forget this. But the here and now- our kin folk saved the world.  Hence- the American birthright.

The post was about illegally detaining an alien not about illegal aliens being detained.
Perhaps you might want to read the link before you post your  kneejerk xenophobic response.  Then we might all be blessed with a more reasoned sarcasim.

I love it when people do not read the articles and to not listen to the video and they make statements totally unrelated to the OP as if my position is that criminals should not be locked up. Many of these people are seeking political assylum.. they have committed NO crime.. please read the links and listen to the videos before stating things not contained within them

Are you suggesting that it would be better for her to leave than to exercise her constitutional rights to change what she feels is wrong with our country?  When you have expressed your displeasure with some of bush & co. shenanigans no one has suggested that you should leave.

What exactly are we supposed to do with the 'huddled masses'?
All I've heard here is what we shouldn't do without any suggestions for an alternative.

We all know that most of those countries that we are occupying have somehow stolen our oil and they are keeping it under their ground!

How about putting them in aparments that are secured where their children can go to school and not be locked up for months in jail cells.

I would not be nearly so troubled by this but for two things: A private company runs the facility in Raymondville TX, and children are being locked up in adult style prisons for months at a time.. this is extremely troubling to me
