whats amusing and of course what i expected is the usual BS about how subs r sposed to be assertive etc etc...what i said in my post was what i look for. i as in azzmaster look for. in case u hadnt noticed i hadnt written 2 any of u asking if u were available. u can be a sub any way u want, its nothing to me

Of course. However you did imply that if you act a certain way then you are a certain thing and if not, then you are not being true to yourself.

azzmaster -> RE: What does a sub look/sound like? (3/6/2007 8:50:29 PM)

of course we all have our world view. for instance, aqua, in ur pic u look very sweetly sublike. that is my view. someone else might think differently. i would think they were wrong, however they r allowed to be wrong.

How you come off looking in pictures, has nothing to do with how you actually act or behave in person.  Which many people seem to misunderstand this point.  Both ways.  However, our society has been conditioned by commercialized media and art for stereotyped looks.  This is why the OP was getting message from people, stating she did not appear to be submissive.  Because the eye candy was not conforming to this brainwashed condition.   Hell, a Domme could have a picture taken which protrays her as submissive.  Does this mean the way she acts, thinks and feels is submissive? No!  But the majority of the people looking at that photo will think so.

Online profiles, tend not to do a person real justice at times.  Because they are just a faint tip to the iceburg.

Just simply telling a person to act more one way or another, does not change the elements of their picture.  If anything leaves them more clueless and lost about what's going on, and why they still keep getting message about how they don't look or appear as Submissive.

Seems like a lot of people jumped right on the band wagon of this thread, without realizing how brainwashed or programmed the mass society is as a whole.  This brainwashing is not a bad thing per say, because it's become the norm.  Every group needs to resonate a solid norm to it, else it would not be a society or group or click per say.  But that's a whole different can of worms.

ah but whip...people choose what pix to post. mine was scientifically selected to go with my name for instance. just like clothing... u in fact do pick ur clothes to represent u, and if u study psychology there is much truth to body language. ur right about tip of the iceberg tho... but remember seeing the tip DOES tell u an iceber lies below. why did u pick ur profile shot. its very tasteful.. i never looked at ur profile so i do not kno of ur dom sub or switch, but the expression is quite neutral.

I prefer ones with homo sapiens DNA.

Oh, and a vagina.

Gee... that's funny. I pick mine because they are cute or mean something to me. My picture before this was when I was in either in my last of high school or first of college and I was a lot lighter. I put it up because it featured a cat who was very near and dear to my heart.

The purpose this current picture is not to show anything other then "I'm owned. Stop trying."

You can't count on people putting a lot of thought into what picture people put up. Sometimes it's just the one they think they happen to look the best in. And what picture you look good in is determined by a lot more factors then other domly or subbly you are.

I received a message today that started me thinking... and perhaps this question has been asked before but here goes anyway. The message I received said exactly this (verbatim): "i must say , your words and pix do not seem submissive. this is by no means a criticism,not at all, just a casual observation"

My question is:  What does a sub look / sound like?  How do they carry themselves, and talk to others?  Is there some sort of expectation when it comes to a subs personality or appearance?

Respectfully,

What?  You didn’t get the manual?
You must have an “s” tattooed on your forehead.
You must never take a picture of yourself standing up or wearing clothes.
You must never ever disagree with any identified dominant.
You have no needs or wants, no brains, opinions or ideas.
You never get tired.
Your knees/back/arms never get sore, your bruises magically heal within an hour, and you only bleed if the dominant commands it.
If you are really submissive, you can be drop-kicked from a second story balcony without breaking any bones because you would never inconvenience your dominant with the need for a trip to the emergency room.
You never age, gain weight or have a bad hair day.
You are:
Stupendously
 Ultimately
 Beautifully
 Magically
 Idiotic,
 Servile,
 Stupid,
 Irrepressibly
 Valiantly
 Emotionless.
And never USE CAPITAL LETTERS!

I think this just about made my day [:D]. Thanks for smile. And I just love this puffy bouncy thing.[sm=mrpuffy.gif]

(I apologise for any miss spellings)

O, I want to add one more thing... and I know that I might get some shit for this one.

You don't have to exclusivly bottem to be a submissive.

If you do identify as a bottem that in it's self does not mean you are submissive.

Bottem= the one who has things done to them in a scene
Top= the one who does things to other people in a scene

Submissive/Slave= someone who makes the power exchange dinamic their lifestyle and chooses to serve another as part of that lifestyle.
Dom/Domme/Master/Mistress= someone who chooses to make the power exchange dinamic their lifestyle and alows another person to honor them by serving them daily.

Shylah

JMO...

They look just like anyone else. There is no set of rules on appearances. It's who you are and what you are. It's an aura. sub/slave/Domme/Dom/Master/Mistress are all just labels.

I agree, it's all about how you come off.

Lashra -> RE: What does a sub look/sound like? (3/7/2007 4:39:32 PM)

They look and sound like human beings last time I checked mine out. Though some people have varying tastes so one can never be too sure.

azzmaster -> RE: What does a sub look/sound like? (3/7/2007 5:34:14 PM)

while looks can b decieving, despite overly politically correct insistance saying there is no dominant look or submissive look, in fact things like a stern look, looking down in ur pic, what u wear, holding a whip etc will give a dom appearance , while a shy smile, hands in cuffs, looking up at camera give a submissive vibe. i would assume that since this is a BDSM site one would give a thought about the pic u post to convey to other members something about ones personality. my pic is a big smile near an ass. i picked it because i thought it was rather humorous given my screen name and i had shades on so i can't be too identified, which is important because of my job. ideally i would prefer one looking more stern andwearing black, but all of those are too detailed and identifiable. If i remainon collarmen much longer i will take a few just for this site with myface not too clearly shown

I still think that people will choose whatever picture they look best in or whatever picture they have a sentiment to. I don't think I look particularly subbly or that Valyraen looks particularly domly in our pic. We just like the picture because it reminds of us a good time that we had and it helps keep idiots from hitting on me.

azzmaster -> RE: What does a sub look/sound like? (3/7/2007 5:49:02 PM)

well u have a point because some people's looks do vary alot in different pix. But seriously even if its accidental, if i look at that pic val looks rather stern but kind, which i think of as a domly trait and u look sort of friendly and compliant. since i don't have access to other pix of ur i can't comment on if thats a pattern.

AquaticSub -> RE: What does a sub look/sound like? (3/7/2007 7:48:38 PM)

Please don't be offended, but I think you are probably getting that because you want to see it. While we've been asked if we are dom/sub based on our interactions we've never gotten it because of a picture.

Well it appears to be what could only be desribed as a "mysterious bulge" is in your second picture....Some sort of an optical illusion? Or maybe you simply have a cock.
The bulge is rather pronounced....

Other than that you are a hottie!  I dig tall chicks!  But most importantly tall chicks dig me....I'd probably throw you a bone if you would get rid of that meat in your drawers.

LMAO - well, I'm not a guy -- believe me.  That "bulge" is the fur lining on my coat.  I wish I could retake that pic and make it look that good without the bulge... ::sigh:: oh well!

Thanks for the compliment -- I think.  ;)

I would tend to disagree with you here, azz.  I chose the pics I did because I thought they were attractive and showed enough of my body for people to tell what I look like -- not because they were submissive or dominant... nor do they have *anything* to do with my name (obviously).

I tend to agree, however, with Whiplash about brainwashing -- that is what this thread was really about.  Not necessarily having anything to do with the comment I received (because, quite honestly if something that simple bothers me -- I need help), but more about how we perceive others.

I am a psychology nut (pun intended) and this sort of thing really interests me.  I am very happy with the posts I have seen thus far.  :)

Apparently, azz has not looked at the other pic on your profile... [;)]  Wonder what he would think of *that* one?

azzmaster -> RE: What does a sub look/sound like? (3/8/2007 1:06:52 AM)

people say alot with body language and how they dress and act. u can get a million people to say the emporer is wearing clothes whenhe is naked, but me and Thor know when he is naked. i am a trained observer of people so perhaps i look closer. i am pleased however afeather, that u are pleased with the posts, but then its predictable on any given forum how posters will react because they tend to have a herd mentality
