i do love the sense of humor that these forums seem to get. they do give me a chuckle.

i also get told i don't "act sub". well....my work will not let me. i am a supervisor so i can't be or i will get walked all over. when it comes to Sir, for example, i am completely submissive when i am in His company. he hasn't really seen me too mad, though. i tend to get in trouble then....lol[;)]

people say alot with body language and how they dress and act. u can get a million people to say the emporer is wearing clothes whenhe is naked, but me and Thor know when he is naked. i am a trained observer of people so perhaps i look closer. i am pleased however afeather, that u are pleased with the posts, but then its predictable on any given forum how posters will react because they tend to have a herd mentality

What does the "herd mentality" have to do with my pleasure at the posts about this question?

Though I agree that, in general, our populace are made up of mostly sheep -- I haven't seen that, in great numbers, here on CM.  Off and on, yes, but not as a whole.

You are correct that body language says a lot about a person, but from what I have seen you are not looking at "body language" -- you are judging people based on one or two particular *poses* -- which any body language expert will tell you is not something to even consider when determining personality.  Poses are not personality -- it's an *act* put on for a purpose.

(raises hand)...I'm asked constantly, am I a Domme, assuming because I like and wear the colors of black and red most of the time.

The hilarious conclusion, once answering that type of a question giving my orientation as a slave...

The next question is, generally, "are you sure"?

 So, to reverse the question, what does a Domme look like? (grin)..

respectfully,
curious

SoftTop -> RE: What does a sub look/sound like? (3/8/2007 11:27:52 PM)

A Domme always wears leather, black or red of course...always has on 6 inch fetish heels, unless her toes are being suckled by her slaves...Her hair is always pulled back severely from her face, which is always made up like an 80's runway model. Dommes do not fart, belch or sneeze, unless they are doing it deliberately as a form of punishment for their slaves. Dommes are always gracefyl lithe creatures who command respect from everyone who happens to cross their path, and their measurements are always 34 18 34, gotta love those corsets. LOL

A Domme looks, apparently, like me!  Bold, confident, athletic, etc etc..

Though I like SoftTop's version better.

I get told I don't look or sound submissive all the time. Probably because, as a general rule, I'm NOT submissive. My job doesn't allow for it. My livelihood revolves around controlling other people....My submissive side comes out in private :)

Same here!  You're not alone on this one.

I get told that I don't "have a submissive personality" all of the time and sometimes am taken for a top.  My response usually is "well, I don't get taken for a geek either but I am!"

...The message I received said exactly this (verbatim): "i must say , your words and pix do not seem submissive. this is by no means a criticism,not at all, just a casual observation"...

"Dear Person Who Wrote me;

Perhaps you should reconsider. It is likely that my words or photos do not fit in with your particular idiom of what a submissive should be. As you give no indication  in this unsolicited completely random  "casual observation"of the factors which you feel are lacking/different, I cannot comment of the specifics.

I would suggest that perhaps it is difficult to sum up a person's entire being in an online profile, and that a multi-dimensioned person would require in the very least a conversation to make such detailled determinants about their persona, orientation and roles.

Further, my profile is simply "me", as I see me. Experience shows me that some people will recognize this, and also that matched personas will be able to view me as needed, so while I thank you ever-so-much for your random critique, and wish you well on your endeavers here and in life, I'm quite happy with my profile and how it portrays me.

cheers!
Me, the submissive."

(and thats the nice version, there would eb a nastier version had the initial email from this other random person seemed to be making serious judgements about my character)
