Contrary to what you may believe FirmhandKY, I am entitled to an opinion, and gave mine.  You don't like it.. oh well.   This Senator also happens to be anti-gay outside the issue of marriage and openly will not hire them.

I happen to think that is wrong and bigoted. I also think that his quoting the bible passages whas a bit much on the floor of the Senate... separation of church and state and all that silliness...

I had no doubt that if  I had posted it, you would try to parse it negatively, regardless... that is not a problem, more accurately, it is amusing.

No biggie

puella (may I call you "dear girl"?  No?  Darn! ), I fully respect your right to your opinion, believe it or not.

What I take exception too - with you and others - is the attempt to justify and perpetuate an opinion as fact, when you can't support it, or when you attempt to use false logic, questionable supporting facts, inconclusive evidence and devious techniques to proselytize your views.

I've told you before that I think you are an intelligent person (opinion). I also think that you let your emotions drive your interpretation of "facts" more than you should (another opinion).  If you ever come to agree with this point - and start to improve your debating techniques based on that insight - I believe you'll be a tough nut to crack, rhetorically.

Some people are born skeptics.  Others become skeptics.  I became a skeptic a long time ago, and if it were important, and someone claimed the sky was blue, I'd go check myself to confirm the truth.  And then ask for a second opinion.

It's stood me in good stead over the years.

You can also be a skeptic, and not become a cynic.  It's a fine line at times, but a place well worth getting to.

Maybe, one day you'll get there as well.

Wishing you only the best ...

FirmKY

No, you actually have it wrong.

I state my opinion and then produce the fact upon which it is based.

Isn't it interesting how the same people who think "dissent is the highest form of patriotism" when it comes to the war think that dissent when it comes to global warming is evil and troglodytic?

LMAO!
It's true!
They're worse than Right-Wingers when it comes to this stuff!
They're just like, "Holy-Rollers in the Church of Global Warming!"
"Hallelueyah! can I get a carbon credit?"
This shouldn't be an "emotional" issue at all but a "scientific" issue.
But you have people like The Reverand Gore trying to hype up people with emotion not facts and in the background he has a corporation that would benefit  greatly financially from this swindle of the Taxpayer's money while he flies around in private jets!
Yup, Financial Chicanery."

One is science, the other is policy. The problem with Global Warming is that EVERYONE ON BOTH SIDES IS FULL OF SHIT.

IF people had the SLIGHTEST grasp of the fucking scientific method, and the creation of models to represent complex processes, they would understand that we lack enough data to even understand what is IMPORTANT to measure, much less manage.

The scientific method?  Oh come now!  Don't let that get in the way of a "just cause" or politician speeches (both of which make me shudder for some reason)!!

ArgoGeorgia...

If you go through the bulk of my posts here, there are innumerable links to back them up.  I also go to great lengths not to use sorces which are factual and not distractionary rhetoric.  For what we were just 'discussing', or rather for the point he was trying to say I had no right to assert, I provided a quote from the actual Congressional Record.

I also go to great lengths not to use sorces which are factual ...

I'm sure this is simply a mistake in grammatical construction ... but pretty darn funny, despite that understanding!

for the point he was trying to say I had no right to assert, I provided a quote from the actual Congressional Record.

And I pointed out to you:

1.  The context,

2.  The fact that you used loaded terms and words ("gloated over" and "pure blood lines") in an attempt to put the most negative view on his words as you could, distracting from his actual intent - you propagandized, in other words,

3.  That you were using an "attack the messenger, rather than the message" false logical construct in order to discredit him.

4.  I never said you had no "right" to assert anything.  Simply that when your assertions are biased, half-truths, misleading, or not based on facts, I'll rip the curtain of misdirection away.  This pisses you off, understandably.  You aren't comfortable with being challenged, and attempt to blame me - blame the messenger again - rather than look to yourself for the problem.

This is the same technique of tranference that I discussed with you several threads ago, concerning BDS.

Urrgh, indeed, never post on Nyquil... it should read that I go to great lengths to USE sources which are factual, obviously, thank you for pointing that out.

I do not know why you continually and so very obviously go after the poster when you can not go after the actual content of the post, especially when given facts for its content.

This entire thread is about Inhofe and his motivations.

He, not I stated that his bloodline (geniology=bloodline... he is the one who brought the chart to the Senate and when about the recorded history of his family) is pure (pure-free from what he is saying are evils (given the following textual passages he quotes ... and he quotes the bible on the senate floor frequently) of divorce and homosexuality).    He is a bigot, period.  There are many who would praise him for his blatant words and policies regarding gays and the rights they are not allowed to have, but I am not one of them.

It has nothing at all to do with propaganda. I did not make up what the guy says or that he made a public statement backing up the fact that he refuses to hire homosexuals... he did.

I just made a post in a thread asking about who this guy is (or rather, what planet he is from) further exploring the character of the man.

Again, opinion on my part, and facts from the horse's (Inahofes') mouth to back up my position.  Thats all it is.

Why don't you spend as much time on the topic at had as you do on me?

A thread is a discussion about an issue, usually based on facts and opinions.  You have an opinion.  I just point out that your opinion doesn't match the facts, or that your rhetorical thinking is flawed.  You take offense, and attempt to change the focus.  I point it out to you again.

The thread is about Inhofe's belief that global warming isn't well founded in science.  So why did you start talking about his "blood lines" and his views on same sex marriage?

It has everything to do with your attempt at propaganda.  Your use of the term bloodlines was clearly an attempt to frame him as related to Nazi ideology.  Your attempt to characterize his pride of family as "gloating" was clearly an attempt to cast him in the most unfavorable light.

And what does either have to do with his belief that global warming is a politically motivated movement?

Now, even further ... if you had said Inhofe is a homosexual bigot because he won't hire them - I would have agreed with you. That is likely a fact - but would have still asked you what that had to do with his stance on global warming?

"Exploring the character of the man." is code for character assassination, since it doesn't relate to the topic at hand.

Clarifying and defending attacks on the man's character, unrelated to his position on global warming IS part of the topic at hand.  You are attempting to discredit his stance based on issues that do not pertain to this issue.  Calling you on it is therefore pertinent.

It seems like character assassination is the entire point to the title of this thread, as well as its contents. It isn't about science at all, it's about viciously attacking someone who you disagree with, isn't it.
