ORIGINAL: orfunboi i am curious, since you seem to be so enviromentally concerned here....What do you do to help? Do you recycle? (oh and i don't mean dump some trash in one bin and your papers and can in another. i mean really recycle all your cardboard, plastice, metal and glass) Do you car pool? Drive a smaller car? Just what is it you do to make our world a better place? Yes I recycle computers..on a pesonal level to those less fortunate....families that can not afford them..handicapped and elderly. Computer waste is one of the largest things headed to the dump all so people can hav the latest greatest in tech Do you know just how much lead is involved in a monitor? Did you know there are thrift shops like salvation army and good will that will not take them as donations as there is no money to be made from them? Did you know that they also do not pick up from certain urban zipcodes as they deem the donations from those areas trash? Aso the help and management they have go thru the good stuff and load them into their cars for personal use before it reaches the shelves? I drive a nondiscrip car and regularly record My gas mildage...My schedule however prohibits car pooling..I use to ride My 68 650 Bonniville Triumph... I am looking into solr panels(again) for roof placement and an offline generator I have looked into using runoff from the roof and gutters to water My plants, ferns, hostas, and vegatables this season. I have used under ground irrigation which is more efficient than spraying and having evaporation take part of it I have made a greenhouse using rebar to loop plastric pvc into hoops looking like a hanger, covering with clear palstic...with a thermostat hooked up to a solar panel and a vent motor from an old dodge van to exhaust heat when it hits over 100 degrees... this was lined with plastic gallon milk bottles to retain the sun's heat and warm the soil at night producing tomatoes over 3 foot tall by Memorial day....that people came miles around to see...and it did not look like a hillbilly's et up...not that there is anything wrong with that.... Guess years of readinjg Whole Earh catalog, Morth Earth News and a few others in the 70's gave Me a good comprehension of how volitile and fragile the eco system is...regardless of what political affiliation said it. But enough about Me...what about you? Ross ©º°¨¨°º© Ross ©º°¨¨°º©
