LOL----

it is the hard R with the kill behind it.  Not sure where I want to be standing in this, being the white Rick James and all.
Richard Pryor did a good bit on it once.  I have all kinds of friends, and we talk about that every once in a while.

I had a slave, Felicia, in New York---
She moved to Dallas, TX-----

Felicia, I said, why do you want to go into that KKK motherfucker?

She said,
Down there you know where you stand they are right up front about it, no passive-aggressive bullshit.

While I know what she said, and what she means, I do not know what she felt, I never will, and that is a difference of sorts.

Ron

ps around here some of us at least do the oooo sound.

*cough cough* Dallas is by far a KKK motherfucker.... *grins taking a stand for my beloved city, winks* Honestly though its no different from any other city, We just some "Good Ol Country Folk" down here...black,white, mexican or whatever...

just because it's something based in the 50s doesn't mean it's not currently happening today, BBBTBW.  i still feel it's a good example since i attended a historical black university where the "wannabes" (like me) were teased for our proper enunciation of the English language and other things by the "jiggaboos" who enjoyed keeping things natural. oh yeah that was back in the 90s too.   As I said before, the cases are pretty isolated.

minding your Ps and Qs also pertains to Black Americans as well if they are going to offend other races, don't you think? or should there be a set of standards for us and none for everyone else?

quote:

I agree that NO ONE should use the "N" word to distinguish a race of people, not even Black People.  We should not use other slangs to describe either.
However free speech is what it is.  You have it, use it...But don't cry sour grapes if you get taken to task over what you say.  It's your right to say it, it's my right to be offended by it and challenge you over what you said.  If I am a loud mouth like the Rev. Al or Jesse Jackson, and do it in a very public forum, you deal with me there.  If I am more subtle and private, I will bring it to you there.... "  (this was excerpted from post 46)

i don't see Jesse or Al up in arms when a Black actor/comedian making fun of other races - oh no that's acceptable among us. yet when the tables are switch, we demand an apology and then firing them from their job because the Black race feels offended.  however they don't speak for the entire Black race ...they don't represent me and my opinions. i didn't feel offended by Imus' remarks as i mentioned earlier i don't agree with him. it's about equality in free speech which you've forgotten about. screw the Ps and Qs everyone has a right to say whatever the hell they want to say. screaming racism every time someone say something so offensive is one way to keep everyone segregated as a society.

I never said it was acceptable behavior.  Do you actually read or do you just skim for hot buttons?   Whichever, I won't be replying to you anymore.  We both want to argue our points and since we are not in a court of law, there is no Judge to render a verdict.  It's pretty much pointless.

it's not the first that i've been called a racist within my own Black race and i'm not afraid to admit i am a racist towards Black Americans - shocking huh?  just because i don't accept the norm and scream what anyone says in the public eye is "racism" like the other black sheeple, i personally don't get offended since i stand by my opinionated nature (which you have confused for anger) and the opinions expressed.  i have been called a nigger more times than i can remember even when i was the only Black kid residing in white block of an upper middle class neighborhood. i have admiration and respect for all races and cultures except my own for personal reasons. so call me a racist against my Black race i really don't care - my opinions and i'm not conforming/changing for anybody to please them.

to answer your question, homeboy, nope it wouldn't hurt my career. all opinions and views expressed are mine alone and you don't have to agree with me or not. i wouldn't be dismayed about the responses i would receive in my myspace inbox because i'm being honest in what i wrote. or do you think i should have lied to listening public of Fearless Radio and said they were pleasing bunch of hiphop artists? if you are going to be in the biz especially music and film, i have a right be honest to you, fans and the reading public. there are times i have been told not to hold anything back in my reviews and so far i haven't. the bands deserve the right to know what went wrong or right during their performance at the Double Door or Metro.

Amen!!! Lordy....Lordy.....The difference that you two sistahs...Seem to be unable to grasp that what he said was on a nationally televised show....So now there are ramifications when you excercise you right of free speech...If the sponsors as well as your employers no longerview you as valuable you can be suspended (which has already happened) or terminated.....Which in this case I hope it does happen.

I am afraid you are missing the point my dear. Lets say the nappy headed ho's were a  tremendous band....And the only thing in your review that you chose to focus on was their ethnic appearance and didn't comment once about their level of talent....Who would want to read your reviews?....What employer would want to hire you? If you worked for, let's say the Trib...And your review of the "Nappy headed ho's" was based entirely on their appearance...And was derogatory in nature...  You would be probably looking for a new job.

oh, domiguy, the FCC doesn't regulate internet radio. as our motto states here at Fearless Radio - No FCCs NO apologies.  free speech totally reigns at our station so we can say whatever the hell we like without fear of getting fined and/or banned by the government.

still, i've heard/seen worse on other nationally televised and syndicated shows especially ones hosted by Blacks Americans and i don't see anyone like Al or Jesse protesting against them. i wonder why?

Mr. Blackwell, on the other hand would have several pages in People, Us, Cosmo and so on on the very same subject......it is a perspective thing.

hmmm well there is a reason people dont really watch... Womens Basketball... they really dont have much talent ....lol call that sexiest dont ya.. we already have a racist black woman, why not have a sexiest white woman against her own sex *Raises hand for the wonderful way of sarcasm* I agree completely with samba, she comes with terms that most African-Americans would never even consider looking at in fear that they would be persecuted for their beliefs by their own race.

This is to the op....If you were walking down the street and some 'black" dude said...referring to you.."Look at that white trash bitch, with her flat ass, oooh...She is really a low class piece of white trash."...I'm sure you would be sooooo happy about him excercising his "right" of free speech at your expense.

Now imagine on a nationally televised show those same remarks being uttered by black males on a nationally televised program while your daughter played a collegiate sport.....You would be fucking pissed off!!!....You would want them fired..You would contact the station (owner) as well as their sponsors demanding that some action be taken...Think about this and then let's talk about the joys of "Free Speech."

and you're missing the point - i don't review about anyone's appearance only the music, stage presence, lyrics and how the crowd reacted to your performance.  ethnic appearance doesn't matter to me - i have reviewed Hispanic rappers to Ukraine rock band. talent does matter to my readers because if you cannot rap worth a damn, i will tell you honestly in my review even if i worked for the Trib or Times.  if a reggae hiphop artist had dreds and wore a tropical island shirt, i wouldn't care as long as he could keep the audience hyped during his set.

Yep, she missed the point, and continues to do so.  The fact that you said, "Lets say" completely escaped her.  She doesn't read, she skims for hot buttons.  I say again, there is no judge to render a verdict so arguing the point is futile.

But, the point is taken.

Wow....Can you read a post?....So what would HAPPEN....If your reviews were not about the music but your reviews were about the appearance of the people performing!!!!!!

Is this sinking in???  You would be out of a job.....here is your review on the "Soul sista's 4"

Review by sambamanslilgirl:

Soul sista's 4 took the stage of the Metro last Saturday night and let me tell you something...They are some nappy headed ho's...Jiggaboo wannabe's...Wow they look really rough with their tats and dreadlocks....They played for 75 minutes.

How would this go over?
