*steps on the soap box with a sly smile* Just need to get something off my chest... Don Imus on His talk-radio station recently made the racist and sexiest comment about a womans basketball team. (if You didnt know lol) But whats reallyyyy digging at me is when did this country take away our 1st amendment, when can we no longer speak our minds?!? Don Imus as a citizen of this country has every right to voice his own opinion about a womans basketball team, make it either sexiest or racist. NO i do not agree with the man one bit, but it really irriatates me when A man can no longer voice his own opinion about something he wishes to say. Just an example is the Texas V. Johnson, 491 U.S. 397 in 1989 Supreme Court Case... Ok lets just analyze this bad boy.. after a march the American flag was set aflame by protestors.. Ok now to me this is insane, disrespectful and just planly rude but i agree completely these citizens HAD that right to do so. But to me Our rights are slowly starting to fade no they havent officially been taken away but my gosh this man is getting so much media attention (yes it could have been a media stunt to do just that). Maybe Im out of my league on this and if i am excuse me but I believe in protecting our rights, its crucial. This man could have been talking about the Marines (Hubby is in the corps) He could have been talking about God or Christians (Active Christian) or any legal issue I support with a whole heart and Yes I would be highly pissed and probably not like the man much but in the end I would know that I would want only to have as much freedom of speech as this man... and He could voice His opinions against all of My own personal beliefs and I would respect Him in the end for giving them even if I highly disagree. So tell me what You think! Do you think Im completely off the edge with this... do You think I should shut up and get off the computer *grins* Hey this is my right *gotta love this Country* *xoxo* Lindsey quote:
ORIGINAL: Level from Fox News: "Syndicated talk-radio personality Don Imus apologized Friday for calling members of the Rutgers University women's basketball team "nappy-headed hos" during a segment yesterday in his "Imus in the Morning" show. Imus and his producer and on-air sidekick, Bernard McGuirk, went on to further attack the black members of the team, calling them "jigaboos and wannabees." In his apology, Imus called his comments "insensitive and ill-conceived." http://www.foxnews.com/printer_friendly_story/0,3566,264646,00.html
