an afterthought, how many women would meet me, tonight, without make-up?

Hers, or yours?

The last person I met, she 'might' have been wearing some for our first meeting, but it would have been so light I might not have even known.

Just like I like.

Very interesting topic, temptressofsouls.
I had quite a long list of deal-breakers, but the one which caused the most noise was that I wouldn't get involved with anyone who had ever been in a military or law enforcement career. The poor man who was informed of this very often reacted as if he'd been spit on, and it sometimes devolved into him screaming at me that I was unpatriotic, that I didn't deserve to live in a free country, etc. etc. All because I personally did not want to have a romantic relationship with this kind of background. Oh well, what can you do? :)

Same here...
Was engaged to a career military, hi risk category, and when I broached the topic of him resigning his commission... heh, well, he went 'ballistic' on me [thankfully, fuguratively only, though I was not sure about that for a few weeks].

It was likely the best resolution for the both of us.

The biggie that single gals bump up against CONSTANTLY are those infidels [as in 'infidelity' LOL].

I want someone I might concievably have a future with... and guys who mislead either their SO or prospective-other [either might be in the plural of course] are absolute LOSERs.

Just Saying...

Edited to try to get rid of inadvertant overstriking

I understand what was being said about law enforcement. I work in the field as do both my parents, and it DOES change people in a way that many other people do not understand. Therefore, I would not be offended if someone had that as a deal breaker.

I have several dealbreakers.

-Practicing Christians. I say "practicing" to indicate people who have an active christian faith as opposed to "I used to go to church and believe in all that but I'm not really into it anymore." I find a lot of people fade from christianity into agnosticism and still *call* themselves christians but they really aren't. I'm wiccan/pagan and I just have almost zilch in common with christians, therefore I have no interest in dating one.

-Having children or wanting them in the future. I have NEVER liked children and my own tubes are tied. That is NOT something I will ever allow in my life. I made an exception once for a guy who's kid was older and didn't live with him and even THAT was too much drama!

-Having anything other than the most casual criminal record. I can lose my job for associating with known criminals

-People who do any form of illegal drugs or who drink heavily/often.

-People who don't love animals.

-People without a good stable job.

-Anyone under age 23 or over age 39. Either way just squicks me out.

-Poly guys (as in someone who wants to be with other women on a regular basis..I'm ok with an occasional 3some but nothing more.)

-Subs or switches.

-Guys who have incompatible hard limits..mine include electroplay, needles, heavy pain play, and scat. I would also put in this group men who expect me to give up my family, friends, pets, career, home, etc.

-People currently in the military (retired is ok). I just don't want him disappearing to Iraq for a year.

I'd just like to say-makeup is NOT a dealbreaker for me-I dont care if a guy wears it or not, and some guys look hotter than hell in it. Mascara especially....Eddie Izzard, anyone?

Now just to get Jinx to sit still enough so I can put some mascara on His lashes. *giggles*

I wouldn't do enlisted either, marines, navy (despite all those hot navy boys in Annapolis, yum!), air force- ANYTHING which had such control over our lives to such an extent they could tell him to go away to dangerous places for months or years.

Exactly.

Plus, as temptressofsouls has mentioned, it does change them and in not-good ways.

Perhaps the worst of all:
our military instills and requires their troopers to maintain a wall of NON-COMMUNICATION with any and all outsiders [non-immediate-military], as they must never reveal to others, info which in reality, might be critical to understanding of them.

PTSD for example: if one can not know to any degree the insult that has damaged one's loved one, one's instinct to help them to heal is made the more difficult if not impossible.

Career military are faithful FIRST to their 'siblings' in military before all else.

I have dealbreakers when looking for another.  Conversely, I probably am the embodiment of other's dealbreakers.  It's the nature of the beast.

What I have found the last few years is that the 'only' way to figure things out in a timely manner is to forget about 'getting-to-know-you' until you've ferreted out said dealbreakers, on both sides.

If you can survive THAT, you might just have something there.  But don't waste time getting 'involved' only to have things go awry later.

Jeff

Fine advice.

Still, there are those 'off-notes' which we might rather disregard... and which after the fact we ofttimes regret not heeding.

As well, as one before me has mentioned... some times what we may have considered 'write-em-off' criteria, may prove not to be insurmountable after all.

Life betimes employs "fuzzy logic"  but then, it is as well a subjective experience, generally.

I really have no huge screamer deal breakers like that. Though I guess the one thing that would make me stop and turn away would be the lack of employment or inconsistant employment.

My dealbreakers:
The ones that seem to get left off of profiles the most are, married ar attached.  Also a heavy smoker not willing to be forced to quit, anyone looking for total support (a sugar daddy), any interest in infantilism, diapers, or scat.  Anybody that wants to be injured, or have marks and bruises on their face.  A history of being hospitalized for mental illness or needing to take heavy psychiatric drugs.  Any permanent disability or chronic illness that would prevent being useful in my service.  Current alcoholics or addicts, or recovering ones with less than 5 years clean and sober.  Anyone looking for an immigration sponsor.  Anyone who lies to me.

I *love* cops and catholics:  so repressed, so obedient, so grateful.   Receptive in all senses of the word.  My favourite!  One of My best pups ever was a catholic cop who gave Me the gift of Taking his virgin eager ass.

My deal-breakers:  no druggies, drinkers, gamblers, depressed, seniors, kids, women, would-be doms.
No bi-'s, switches, marrieds, smart-ass masochists or TV's.
Just had a funny msg from a guy into TV's and cuckoldry, who got miffed that I would think a guy who fellates is bi-:  he snippily said it's just a fetish.  LMAO!  Imagine explaining that to your mom with a drag-queen's cock in your mouth.

Greetings

I can not think of a single thing that would cause me to tell Master that our relationship was off; except maybe if one of us died ( God forbid )

I will say on another note; I am really surprised at all those who list law enforcement or military as reasons  I have to ask, would FireFighters fall in this same category?

I wish you well

I almost never wear makeup unless I'm doing some kind of costuming, either fetish or sci-fi/fantasy.  It seems like false advertising.  Why would it matter if someone liked a false, painted face if they didn't like (or even get a chance to see) my real face?  And if somebody doesn't like my real face, I'm surely not going to lose any sleep over it.   It's their problem, not mine.

As I mentioned, cops are okay for me personally (and I know someone else said it wasnt ok for them). Firefighters are okay, too.

It's just the military I'd say no to.

I adored my stepmother and hit the roof when my father divorced her. Of course compared to the weirdos he dated, she was an angel.

Major dealbreaker; men who are not involved with their kids. Have known too many who move out, deliberately get a place too small to have them over, give them not even a shelf to their own to keep things, complain about the ex who does all the work because he never sees them even when he promises to, and on the rare occasion he does take them shoves the work off onto his date of the week.

I wanted someone who valued his as much as I value mine. Their needs come before our wants. As a result of this being stated and agreed upon by both of us, my daughter and his are friends, my son and his are friends. All of them feel comfortable with the situation as is.

Oh, cat ownership is a deal breaker. I start choking within minutes, eyes tearing, nose running, the whole nine yards.

I'm terribly allergic to animals, but not as much as I was as a kid. I'd try and work with the situation to see if it could be salvaged.

Jinx's sister has 2 cats and 2 dogs, but He tries to keep them out of His bedroom, and keep the place clean. That usually helps a lot.

I understand some have allergies so bad it they couldnt tolerate animals at all.
