in case you didn't notice, there are a hell of a lot of idiot doctors in the world.

Maybe annebelle but one thing is certain...

For 99.8 percent of human beings it is medically impossible to gain weight if they burn more calories than they take in.

As I said earlier... "Our bodies are machines. The fuel is burned as calories. If you burn more calories that the amount you consume in a day and continually do so, you will lose weight because your body will start feeding off its stores. Once at a target weight, you can adjust you caloric intake to match your energy out put and maintain. It is called a lifestyle change. It is not easy, in fact it is extremely difficult and it is a lifetime commitment,

and i am pointing out to you that i fit into your .2 percent, at least based on the judgment of licensed nutritionists, psychologists, and psychiatrists.

please, please, since you are so intelligent and know so much about what i should and should not believe about myself, and you obviously know my body better than i do (or my doctors do), let us know how to get me to lose weight. because we're all pretty much stumped.

annabelle.

Can you tell me truthfully any time you've been moo'd at.

Yes, I have.

Or somebody has come to you in a restaurant telling you how to eat?

Actually it was a Pub and I was told not only how to eat, but how to drink.

Or that you've almost been hit by a car due to kids messing around and trying to ridicule you?

It was an adult, hanging out his driversside window.

Can you honestly tell me you've ever been a victem of this kind of antagonism?

Yes

Can you honestly, as a man, say you've ever been talked down to (by anybody other than family or your doctor) for being obese?  Can you?

I can indeed. I was in the Marine Corps (lost 65lbs just to get in) and I had trouble maintaining weight standards my entire hitch. Before the Marines, there were those oh so helpful, condsending HS teachers. After the Marines I remember a particularlly humilation "talking too" by the father of a woman I was dating!

Discrimination and hate crimes for obese women happen every day.

Discrimination AND hate crimes you say?

I say again....

waa waa waa

I thought about putting this in the health and safety area but figured I would get a better response here. I do not wish to offend anyone or have people think that I only envision real woman as 90lb supermodels. As a person who works in the healthcare industry I am appalled that someone could even be more than 100lbs over their ideal body weight let alone think it was something to flaunt. For those of you that belive the term BBW applies to a voluptuous full figured woman I have no problems with you and can understand the application of the term.

I guess I have lit the fire and look forward to your responses

i find it interesting that you feel bbw shouldn't flaunt it - meaning it's something they should be ashamed of, yet you say you can understand those who like bbw.  It's ok to like one just not ok to be one?

FatDomDaddy -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/12/2007 9:33:18 PM)

And while I have it on my mind...

Being moo'd at, oinked at,  being called, lard ass, blob, fat ass, tubby, piggy et al, is rude, common, uncouth, it is also bigoted, cruel, hateful and hurtful. BUT it is neither discriminatory nor  for goodness sakes, a crime.

hisannabelle -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/12/2007 9:34:06 PM)

greetings fatdomdaddy,

so, by extension, being called a nigger or a spick because of your skin color isn't discriminatory?

just curious.

For some people, it IS lazy.  For some people, it isn't.

Exactly, and it's the ones who are straight up lazy that we're talking about here. Far too many of them claim it's a generic 'medical problem' as an exscuse so they don't have to take care of themselves. If  you're walking three miles and a day and you're still two hundred pounds, all the more power to you, you're obviously taking care of yourself and your body, which is what really matters. Some people don't.

yes, but the problem is, you cannot look at someone and tell who falls into which category. either way, it does not matter; saying that because someone is fat, they should not be proud of or loving towards their body, or that they should be doing everything possible to lose the weight regardless of whether it's giving them health trouble, is just condescending in my opinion. look at it this way: i could call you a rude, bratty bitch and tell you you should change the first paragraph in your profile because it doesn't reflect well on you, but i don't know why you put it in there in the first place, whether or not it harms your chances of meeting someone on the site, or if indeed you -are- rude, bratty, OR a bitch. no one would fault me for doing that, but it would be condescending and judgmental of me to do so, and you'd have every right to think that of me. just as i personally find the behavior of several posters on this thread to be condescending and judgmental.

FelinePersuasion -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/12/2007 9:41:55 PM)

I am lazy, I'll tell you right now. I  am lazy and I don't eat right,I don't get much exercise, do I over eat, sometimes, but most days I eat next to nothing. today the only thing I've eaten all day is breakfast at 8 and lunch at 4, a small lunch consisting of one item only. I only eat like once or twice a day. That's just as bad as stuffing my face allday. Yesterday the only thing I ate all day was one tiny sandwhich, and then later on at 4 a doughnut,  and four cups of water cause I just got done walking dogs, was that bad, yeah the doughnut was.

So just because I am fat don't mean I stuff myface allday. Of course nobody said it did, I'm just a differnt part of the wh*ole puzzle.

merrysbrat -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/12/2007 9:44:14 PM)

I personally would never tell someone to lose weight if it would hurt their health to do it. Quite the opposite, I would only suggest losing weight if it's GOOD for your health, which a lot od the times it is. And besides, I don't judge people on their weight, the first time I see them, that would be cruel.

FelinePersuasion -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/12/2007 9:46:41 PM)

FatDomDaddy, so are you following these instructions, and if so how's it working for you? Are you burning more calories than taken in?. are you trying to loose weight, after protesting how disgusting fat is , and nobody fat is healthy, being fat yourself?

well ya answered that question in an unrelated post.

So, since you cannot seem to wrap your mind around the fact that there are people who *gasp* do exersize and yet still cannot lose weight, I'm done answering to you.

Here is something to grasp.

I lost over 150lbs and did NO exercise. Zip, notta, none. FTR...I was over 500lbs and my cholesterol was under 200 and by blood pressure taken at a weight of 489 (taken at hospital because my doctor's scale only went to 400!) was 119 over 74.

Of course, I was winded walking a flight of steps, I lived with constant chronic gout,  my snoring could wake the dead and I was lucky to sleep 40 minutes at a clip, my right leg would go numb if I stood for more than 5 minutes, I could not fit my car's seatbelt, I literally could not find clothes that I could wear while performing my job and I was taking Welbutren AND Prozac for horrible depression.

But hey hey hey my cholesterol and blood pressure "were wonderful" as so many a condensing nurse would often point out!

I fight the battle every single day. It is hard, it is grueling and many times more stressful than the eating binges I used to come down from. But at least I can admit that being 500, 450, 400, 350, 300 is unhealthy on the weight factor alone.

And I still need to knock more weight off!

FelinePersuasion -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/12/2007 10:02:27 PM)

How did ya loose with ZERO exercise? I started loosing right after i cut out all microwavable foods like hot pockets, and stoped drinking fruit juice, but the loss didn't last.  lasted for about a year.Probably because I got a new bf who is willing to take his baby girl out every week, and I sure didn't say no.

merrysbrat -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/12/2007 10:04:03 PM)

Wow, I'm suddenly very thankful my body won't ever let me get over two hundred pounds.

Fatdomdaddy: for someone who is poking fun at others for venting about their problems, you seem to have some pent up frustration as well. no, im not saying i know you or what you think/feel, but after reading your posts is sounds to me more like you are trying to overcome what you are by belittling others with the same problems. just a thought...its ok to be happy with yourself, but unhappy with the situation. i personally love being able to tell someone that i could simply sit on them during a fight and they wouldnt be able to move, but it still hurts just a little bit to hear someone make fun of you for ANYTHING(especially when you are way too nice to do it back). please stop indirectly telling others not to talk about their problems because you cant seem to make yourself do so. it does not make you strong.

honestly, there is quite a lot of "fat discrimination" in our society. in some countries being fat means you have money to buy good food(lets say..cows for milk), in our country being skinny means you have money to have a personal trainer and be on a special diet. i personally dont believe we should just suddenly roll over and say to everyone "its ok to be fat!" because honestly, for a 10 year old it is NOT. its no good to look at an adult who is over weight and call them names, or think they are a bad person because they arent model thin, but we shouldnt be giving our children(who are already the fattest in the damned world) the idea that being too big to fit into their school desk, or so out of shape that they cant run 1/4 of the track, is ok! as roll models for the next generation we have to be comfortable with the image we are sending them. are we confident? are we healthy? do we advocate being healthy and active? quite honestly, despite our countries obsession with being thin, our children keep getting fatter at a younger age. we could always blaim how we put so much pressure on them to be thin as a society, that it causes them to over eat, but i consider that bullshit; if you have children, or have influence over children, you have the power to turn off the tv, take away the magazines and show them an image of a healthy, happy and active individual, over weight or not!(hey, if youre considered morbidly obese, but can hike up a mountain, bully to you, because i sure cant!)

hey, i have an idea...theres this country in africa(i cant remember the name) where they actually fatten brides up before they get married, if they arent already fat enough. the reason is because they prize cows more than anything, including currency, and if you are fat that means you obviously have many healthy cows that produce a lot of good milk. i say we all move there, and have someone treat us like queens because were so fat we cant move! lol!

FelinePersuasion -> RE: BBW's, Is this something as a society that we should encourage? (5/12/2007 10:18:05 PM)

Ah, but here's the flaw, if we're so fat we can't move , how are we getting to africa, and I don't think any one can fly us, so how do you propose doing this move?
