I live in Boise, Idaho... having moved here from California (Palo Alto) five years ago to semi-retire.  The quality of life here is much better than in Southern or Northern California (been there, done that), but when it comes to sexuality you might as well set your clock back ten years.  There's a small BDSM community in Ada County (which encompasses Boise), but it's rather stagnant and many of the members aren't very sociable.  Wish I could change that.



I have to agree.  I've been in the Boise area all my life and it is still struggling out of the Dark Ages when it comes to anything sexual or BDSM oriented.  Eastern Idaho seems to be a little better for some reason, as does the north Idaho area near Spokane, Washington, but both areas are a good 4-6 hour drive or more from Boise.

Status: offline 		I used to live in Idaho (Boise) about 10 years ago and the scene is as everyone described it rather dead. Houston, Dallas and the rest of Texas is just jumping. Gotta love having events every single weekend.

Status: offline 		There is not much shopping, but  there are  certainly a number of groups active in the Indianapolis area, and a few scattered munches in smaller spots... (I've gotten most of my newer toys from local people in the lifestyle who make and sell their own leatherwork)

i, too, am in Georgia, but in Columbus, where the only lifestylers attend munches or drive long distances to attend play places or dungeons.

Status: offline 		well to describe san antonio...i would once again borrow a saying from 12 step programs...

all it takes to make a new meeting is a resentment and a coffee pot....

there are no less than 6 groups that don't necessarily work cooperatively in san antonio...i actually think that the spanko's group, with their no-protocol, bratting means an invitation to play, parties is the common ground where all groups meet somewhere in the middle...but the hosts of said parties have been doing major remodeling so no parties since like super bowl and not sure when the next one will be...and they used to have a monthly..bi-monthly? party...

Status: offline 		SC actually has some wonderful kinky folks and within a two hour drive from the center of the state, Columbia, there are 6-8 groups..    T3WD, LOCK, CAPEX, are the three biggies..

Only problem is that all, most, of the folks there were couples. I had no trouble finding service/training/friendship/play.. but moved out of the area to find a someone for myself .

the DC area,, Lots and lots of folks...  and lots of groups and meetings and munches and classes and Doms and subs and trainings and events and club nights and socializations and whew.. lots to do both bdsm and vanilla and did i say yet a lot of folks here.. Oh and me.. i'm here now too

i think Kansas must be in the bottom 5, if not the worst state.

Kansas has a welcoming leather community.  Google the words WOOLF and leather camp -- the Wichita Organization of Leather Fetishes Inc is a nice little group that runs a fantastic educational event in the summer.  They're pansexual, but really, the majority of the work seems to be done by a few gay men because, well, no one else does the work!

There's a KS BDSM org website out there...and there is an active group in eastern Kansas called ALEK.  They have a page on one of the alt lifestyle websites.

There are also a number of other groups on Yahoo Lists concerning BDSM who indicate that they host parties and live meetings.

There is a dungeon in Wichita called Seb's Place that I've heard is well attended for parties.

And I'd be remiss for not mentioning Kansas City Leather University, whom I've taught for in the past.  KCLU hosts excellent presenters!

There are 4 active munches in the PGH area, plus at least two or three annual events that are pansexual.  From friends who are active with the Burgher Munch (one of the older munches in the nation still happening), there are often play parties that stem off of the munch groups.

Status: offline 		Wish i lived a little closer to the Balt/DC or even Phili area. It's a couple of hours away and just not conducive with my home life at the moment. Hoping that changes at some point!

On the rural shore they are working hard to outlaw even any adult businesses anywhere, so clubs would not make it here. Haven't been able to really identify much in the way of groups at all. Lots of single males seeking as usual

Status: offline 		Florida has a number of hotspots... Specifically Tampa, Orlando, and the Ft. Lauderdale areas.

The Tampa Bay area is literally the strip club capital of the USA. There are more than 4 dozen clubs in the area. And Tampa is the host city for FetishCon.

Status: offline 		Mexico while not a state is close by and has very little bdsm community.... mostly the locals just shake their heads and mutter something about "crazy gringos".  We think the only sorts of slaves we will ever have here will have to be imported.

We have lived and/or been involved in bdsm communities in LA, SF, Phoenix and Denver that were all vibrant and alive at the times we were there.  We do miss that but still prefer living here with it's great climate and wonderfully slow pace of life.
