The TOS governs this private website, so Free Speech is not really an issue. Now if you were standing in public, Free Speech is supposed to protect some of the most offensive things that can be said. So if you hear something in public that is extremely offensive, and is not inciting a riot, then that is likely what Free Speech is supposed to protect. If you do not want to hear something offensive then stay in your home, turn off the computer, TV, radio, and do not read a damn thing. Now you are fully insulated, and should feel better.

Status: offline 		We have some strong willed  indivduals here who belong to minorites. If and when they feel someone is out of line, they usually let that person and the mods know of the situation. They, like the rest of us, are people who can take care of themselves. In other words, people are people and we don't need you to stick up for us. So far, the situation has always handled itself.

Is this a thread where one user was calling another the n word?  I wouldn't think that would happen(and I have only read this OP)  If you are talking about the Dog thread that I saw on the scroll, I am sure they are only discussing a news item and not calling anyone names themselves.

That is an incorrect statement.  The auto count is reports on a persons profile on the other side.  You report a post on this side that is part of a thread, a mod looks at it.

The bit I don't get is it seems to be ok for black people to call each other nigger, as in Yo Mah Nigger, etc., but if whites call black people niggers, it's offensive?

I'm not kidding, I really don't understand.

From what I've read and studied, the word "nigger" holds different parameters of power when spoken by a black person vs. a white person. For the former, it can be a form of empowerment, solidarity, and pride in reclaiming a term that is violent in it of itself. Operative word: can. Some blacks disagree with using the 'n' word.

Maybe I can help you understand but Im sure it will still be puzzling as it still is for me..*smiles* However as I mentioned before on a similar thread * African American* people use the word *nigga*  not *nigger*  changing the word to make it an acceptable form of use is what has happened..basically taking something bad and switiching it up to stake some sort of claim on it...kinda the same thing that has happened with *ebonics*......Yes it becomes offensive because *Caucasian* people usually say it just as you did *Nigger*...*Nigga* is used as a form of pet name for a friend the same as the word *Dog* which has been changed to *Dawg* ....... I have seen *Caucasian* people use it as well and be accepted for such in the presence of *African American* people...it just depends on the company and I guess the pronunciation....Many other countries dont even take offense to the word *Nigger* the word was basically born and over used in the states so I think the tension is mainly here..What is kind of interesting is I have *African* friends from West Africa and you will never hear them walking around calling eachother *niggas & dawgs*....The states have always been a power struggle with race...I just want to clarify I am in no way saying all *African American* people use the word *nigga* or accept it....its usually related upbringing....I hope I clarified a bit... **this is only my opinion being from the inner city and being of mixed race *blk& white*

Popeye :  I haven't a clue as to the post/thread they/she is talking about. I never even ''peeked in'' on the bounty hunter thread.
