I enjoyed the recent thread about stupid movies.  I love a lot of movies, but there are scenes that just stand out in most movies.  So if you can remember them or find a clip, what are some of your favorite movie scenes.

Here is one of my favorites from "True Romance" (a great film):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iYYZYkM3s0

Here is my favorite from Blade Runner (of course I like the one with Harrison Ford's narration):

Those are just a couple for starters.

The final 'Battle of Nagashino' scenes from Kurosawa's Kagemusha

The guitar duel at the end of the movie Crossroads, by which point everyone has forgotten that Ralph Macchio's character was a guitar prodigy from Julliard when the movie started.

And of course....

Platoon - where Tom Berenger is about to smash the other bloke over the head with a shovel and the bombs start dropping.

What a superb film that was.

A tip of the hat to you. I've had the famous "tears in the rain" scene up on my myspace page for six months. I have the one sans Harrison Ford's narration, as I prefer that over the (to me) intrusive narrative.

Another favorite of mine would have to be in Meet Joe Black, where Hopkins and Pitt's characters walk over the bridge and into death, while the fireworks are going off celebrating Hopkins' life.

Here are mine:

Deer Hunter - Russian roulette scene.

On the Waterfront - The scene in the taxi where Brando goes into his speech.

The Godfather - The horse in the bed scene. The film is in my top ten film greats so just about any scene in it. Amazing dialogue throughout, rivalled only by Pulp Fiction.

Kung Fu Hustle - The axe gang scene.

Two Towers - Lord of the Rings - The final battle scene... still gives me goosebumps watching it.

Spartacus - Final battle scene

"The Quiet Man"  with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara where he breaks down the bedroom door and takes the woman he just married.

the scene from "Jaws"...we're gonna need a bigger boat.

Level already brought up the opening scene in "Saving Private Ryan"  i can't get through that without bawling like a baby.

the scene from "True Lies" where Jamie Lee Curtis is stripping in the hotel room and falls on her face.

God, how do you narrow the vast feild down?

Star Wars, the attack on the Death Star... the "rollercoaster shot" going into the trench still thrills me right down to my toes! (and the opening sequence of ep IV still blows me back into my seat)

I was watching "The Birds" the other night, and the sequence where Tippi Hendren is trapped in the phonebooth during the bird attack on the town...

The opening of Saving Private Ryan...

Ingrid Bergman pulls a gun on Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca, and realizes she can't pull the trigger, spinning Richard Blaine off in a direction that leads to the single best movie ending in cinema history.

The Wizard of Oz is revealed to be a little old man behind a curtain, but who is wiser than all of our main protagonists and points their attributes out to them.

The shower sequence in Psycho. (Has anyone else come close to creating a movie moment like that?)

King Arthur and his knights attempt to enter the French fort by building a "Trojan Rabbit"

The swordfight from "Princess Bride."

Superman saves Lois Lane from a helicopter crash atop the Daily Planet building.

John Hurt asks Jody Foster, "Wanna Go For a Ride?"

A priest walks up to a set of three, hovering, manta ray-like machines, in an attempt to make peaceful contact, touching off one of the most spectacular battles in a science fiction film.

Sean Connery strapped to an industrial laser cutting table.

Avatar the wizard deals with his evil brother. "I'm glad you changed your last name, you SOB!"

Frank Langella attends a dinner party in "Dracula."

The weather shifts in L.A. Story...

Klattu rises from the dead and gives his sermon on the mound, in The Day the Earth Stood Still

The Thing bursts into the room, and is set on fire with a bucket of kerosene, and a berry pistol.

Another Thing changes in a truly horrifying way while pretending to be a scientist having a heart attack in the remake. (Followed closely by the earlier sequence where it was pretending to be a sled dog in a pen.)

The doors of the Sulaco slide open, and Ripley clomps into the scene, ready for her ultimate battle with the creatures that have destroyed her life, and threatened her (extended) family. "Get away from her, you Bitch!"

There are thousands of these....

The first one that came to My mind was the first interaction between Diane Lane and Oliver Martinez, in Unfaithful,  I could not find that, but I did find this clip, which was AMAZING.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmQcLiKh3PA&feature=related

The Rink Scene, from Monster, which is My all time Fave Movie, and this is the best scene, so I guess it takes number one,,,,I nearly jumped out of My seat screaming in the theatre at this one!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54xqnTIXWVwm

The scene in Hard Candy where the two main characters met.  Still trying to figure out who is the cat,,,,and who is the mouse!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBrefRJ2RVs

Those are the best ones I can think of off the top of My head!

.....the scene from Aliens "Get away from her, you bitch"

.....the scene from Dark Star "I think therefore I am"

.....virtually any scene from The Fisher King, let's say the bit where Robin Williams's character wakes from his coma.

Charlie and the Chocolate factory.. the new one..
"You get these "flashbacks" often?"
"Increasingly... today..."

The scene in Pirates of the Carribean where Calypso comes to lay down the bitch-slappin's.

The scene in Sweeney Todd where (poor) Alan Rickman gets it.

>_>  I'm actually not as big a Johnny Depp fan as this list might make you think.  I'm more an Alan Rickman person.
