RealSub58 -> RE: What kind of jobs do subs have? (8/8/2008 4:15:34 PM)

Since the time I saw my mom deliver babies as a midwife and deal with clinic patients in rural Tanzania,  I became what I wanted ....  an adaptable RN and have many sub specialites, some I like better than others.

My education is in Math and Meteorology.  I was a professional student for many years.  In grad school I had the opportunity to do a lot of traveling and work on several Meteorological field projects.

My first career type job started at a small credit card processing company as a temp and I was quickly promoted to manager of the department.  I worked there until I moved to Canada.

Now I am an insurance broker in a family owned agency.  It is a very community/service oriented job and I am doing quite well at it.

Oh this is a neat thread!  What interesting, diverse backgrounds!!

Okay, as for me:
-cashier and scummy little grocery store (teen years)
-Mom (this as we have seen, includes such roles as chauffer, nurse, psychiatrist, referee, cook, seamstress, event planner, comedian, mechanical engineer have you SEEN kids' toys these days?, personal shopper, teacher, etc etc)
-Roles as an "administrative and/or customer service professional" in a variety of organizations, from behavioral health center, the medical community as a whole, Silicon Valley (think Inetech, yeah I totally worked there!), corporations large and small
-Assistant to the owner of a landscaping company: this turned out to be nothing more than a gopher and maid for a dude that mows lawns and plants stuff in rich old ladies' yards.  They found him charming.  I found I wanted to punch him in the face at every opportunity.

As I look back on my job experience, holy cow, it truly appears that I am hard-wired to serve, support, help.  It's what I do.  [image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m16.gif[/image]
