littlewonder -> RE: What kind of jobs do subs have? (8/9/2008 7:28:56 PM)

My first job was babysitting at a very young age
I then moved on to counter work and opener/closer at a drycleaners until they went out of business
After high school I started working a clerical job with an auto parts store
I moved away and got married, worked temp clerical jobs all over since we moved annually
After I became widowed I didn't work at all so I could raise our child with at least one parent around
After my child reached an age I felt comfortable working again I now work in the legal profession and I enjoy it more than any other job I've ever held
Now though I'm in search of a second job for supplemental income

I've been babysitter, (manual) manufacture worker, warehouse worker and lately videogame tester. I prefer the latter job a LOT more.

I teach English in an inner city high school. I do some mainstream but mostly specialise in working with kids with a history of violence or emotional and behaviour disorders, and special needs arising from those conditions.I teach these within the regular high school but inside a special inclusion centre so that we can integrate them slowly with the other pupils.

The kids I work with have no boundaries, fear no consequences and recognise no authority when they arrive in my class. "Feral" is a word often used on their referral forms. They change quickly. I haven't lost a kid yet. (other than on field trips, but we class them as "runaways") (joke)

My first job at 15 was a clerk in a video store; waitress; law secretary; flower shop; general retail; Bailey's gym;  factory worker; screen printer; waitress/bartender; dancer; repo cars with my ex for his towing business; manager of a animal shelter (was by far the worst and at the same time most rewarding job i have had); women's shelter; Guardian Ad Litem (more a volunteer job, but i was given funds for gas); caring for a man who was completely wheelchair bound, while i helped him study for the bar exam; ooooh yes and a mother to two UM's. i have quit that job several times, only to get out of the shower and say: "i quit, why are You lil people still here?!!?"
