Hey - I'm good, but I'm not ALL knowing.

What are you talking about, and do you have any credible links?

Or is it all, as you call it, "hearsay"?

Sorry, I guess I assumed you'd know whom I was referring too. And yes, the child in question was tortured. But I'm sure that's just all evil hearsay.

Oh, is that the standard we are using now to kidnap children?

I'm sure once one of  our children are kidnapped for years on end, and the phrase throw out about how all the infidels are trained from early childhood to hate Muslims and are intent on destroying them, we'll believe that one too right?

Here is one link, if you need help with google, let me know.

http://www.reprieve.org.uk/casework_mohammedelgharani.htm

May have some trouble finding out much else though thanks to another one of Bushes legacies left behind.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/01/24/AR2009012401702.html?hpid=moreheadlines

If anyone wants to tell me how we can keep people retained for years on this crud, I'd like to hear it.

Yeah, again, very happy the way I voted and close that stinking thing down already!

We are in a WAR!   We are in WAR with an enemy who does not wear a uniform, killes civlians, slowly slices the heads off non combatants because they are American citizens....and  "Team Obama" is concerned about FILES!!!  Al Quaeda operatives must be laughing so hard their towels must be  falling off their heads!  All but 60 of the Gitmo inmates are apparently tied to terrorist activities, including 9/11, according to the link provided to the Washington Post!.  I think the half of the remainder should be shipped to the Kennedy compound in Cape Cod and the other half to Alcatraz so Pelosi can see her favorite people every day.  Gonna need a new paint job but that prison on the bay would be perfect....dontcha think??

WE ARE?

Who are we at war with?

Is this a declared war?

We don't seem to be at war with Iraq, or Afghanistan, as their governments are basically controlled by us.

So I guess we are at war with the terrorists.

Which are who?

Can you define them for me?  Point them out to me?  Even find a label for them?

We are at war with radicalized, religious/ideal, zealots. They come in all shapes and sizes, including home grown ones. Man has been at war with them for as long as there has been civilization, and mankind never learns how to combat it from all the previous times it has cropped it's head up. This often leads to the persecution of any that have an affiliation with them, even if it is just a name (such as Muslim), because the people that are persecuting do not bother or care to look at the differences.

Getting rid if Gitmo, will at least help with some image problems, since it has been an icon of ideals that are not what America should be about. Yes there may well be other installations that house these individuals or they may be released, but it is something that needs to be done if America is going to get back on track of doing the right thing.

All true, but should we give up 200 plus years of  moral advancement, civil conduct and desire to be better than our enemies ,all over what amounts to a relatively small hand full of nutters?

If yes,how much freedom should we give up.And how far down to their level must we sink?

And how many more will we drive into the ranks of the nutters, w/ 3-D virtual advertisements like Iraq,Abu-greb prison, gitmo, secrete prison sites in foreign countries were torture is common place, etc?

Gitmo and every other breach of faith and constitutional violation committed by bush was justified by saying we were at war and he had the War Powers Acts covering him.

Funny thing though. We have not declared war and we are legally not at war.bush just claimed that to get away with murder. And the feckless 6 year republican majority let him get away with murder. We`ve not seen words and meanings twisted out of shape like this since Nixon.

Bye bye gitmo and good bye to all that bush-shit.

I believe there was just 3 people that were tortured by the liberal democrats definition of torture.  And according to Bill CLintons former CIA chief one of them that was tortured provided information about a domestical terror plot that saved many American lives.

cheney is a liar.Nothing sourced from them is credible and most likely, false.

How about the Canadian guy who was tortured in Syria in one of our secrete sites?

He survived and the Canadians are pissed.

But if cheney never mentioned that,I guess you never heard about it.

"He acknowledged that he relied on Pentagon assurances that the files were comprehensive and in order rather than reading them himself."

I have added the end of the link you refer to. Note the ex official quoted in the post couldnt be bothered to read the files himself.

We should not give up the advancement in some areas. Other areas have not been advancements, but government abuse (I include in this the squashing of state's rights by Lincoln) in the name of a good cause.

Our liberties already guaranteed in the Constitution should not be sacrificed in any fashion. This would also include government meddling in our economy (bailouts) or regulation of Free Press (FCC and other regulations that do something other than control who has what frequency).

Quite a few, and Osama not only predicted this, but hoped that attacks would push the US to do some extreme things. It has made some moderate Muslims to be very angry, and not be as willing to work with the West.

Sarcasm noted. Let us not forget who gave him that power, and hold them accountable for not pushing further for proof.

I do not disagree with what you have stated, but could you please point out what the Dem majority has done to correct this?

Say hello to the new boss, the same as the old boss. What I mean by this is illustrated in another post. Things will happen that should not, because politicians are no longer servants of the people. No matter what Obama's intentions are, he still has to get Congress to do things. It has never been things that are perpetuated by one person, it has always been how the entire government functions, and in my opinion dysfunctional.

cory,

There are about 240 inmates at gitmo.

So far, in the past 6-7 years, all of 21 of them have been charged.

That doesn`t add up cory, with all the bullshit numbers and claims youv`e made.

Can you explain this, cory(without some lame blame game saying liberals made bush charge only 21 men)?

And how does gitmo help with that?

Looks like gitmo caused that.

Gitmo is one of the best recruiting tool they have.

Obama`s take`n that tool away from them.

Bub-bye gitmo.
