ORIGINAL: Lynnxz Women are touchier about their weight. (Mostly) Fat and Happy, reporting for duty. Society is more accepting of overweight men because, stereotypically (a force which is changing slowly) men are praised for their things while women are praised for their bodies. A good job, a nice house, a legion of followers, a flash car, a big boat, a warm sense of humor... The list can go on and on about what makes a man "attractive" before we see any physical characteristic. The first one we see is "handsome", and that's not a body-attribute. Women are, sadly, too often judged first by looks, then by the facts of their existence. I don't mind this objectification when discussing cows (yes, the farm animal). When products are sold and bought the specifications are public. Height, weight, muscle:fat ratio are all important to the slaughterhouse. If the same factors are important to a person acquiring a human, then they should be looked at. Physical traits vary and inevitably fail over time, so I don't shop for them. In short, I'm completely fine with people wanting "pretty things". It would be hypocritical of me to call an owner of fine art a "connoisseur", and an owner of fine humans "shallow*". More power to you, MistressONYX. Go get your pretty thing. BUT... just as an art collector doesn't find Van Gogh's at every garage sale, your search is harder because of your extra demands. *Here I'm assuming shallow is used in a derogatory manner, not just to say "likes pretty things".
