An idle thought. Good to see an intelligent post, and response, on Gor. I regret that this is an exception to My experience. Keep it up, Loric.

I've read your few past posts. You use the 'true' word which is a put down. You also called a Dominant female "girl". You have nothing of value in your profile, essentially it's empty. If you did these kinds of things in a chat room, causing someone to look at your profile and discover that you don't post and you use offensive language, then it is understandable that whoever you offended shot off an angry cmail.

Better of course if they had simply blocked you, but understandable. I wonder very much if it was an antiGor cmail or just an anti the OP cmail.

Greetings Loric,

While Master is not Gorean, He has incorporated some Gorean aspects into His training and beliefs. i haunt the Gorean forum here and on another site because the way i am held in my slavery is very similar, and i enjoy the interaction with the fine people there.

When Gor comes up in conversation either in RL or in the chatroom i haunt, i have been quite firm in telling people that i will not sit quietly while they bash it -- i correct the misinformation they present as their 'proof'. (i do the same when ignorance shows its face regarding just about anything). i have had other people come to me and quietly admit that they are interested in Gor but don't admit it publicly because they didn't want to be mocked.

Problem is that folks will have a bad experience with a 'Gorean' who is a role-player only and has no idea what the philosophies and mores of the books are. IF this is this is the only exposure they get to the beauty of the Gorean philosophies, it is no wonder that hostility is the usual response.

peace,

g

Do not worry about what others think of your lifestyle. I am a Dominant Female and I live my life how I wish. I get mail here from male Doms who mistakenly believe that all females are submissive at their core and it can be brought out by the right male. I write them back to inform them that they are WRONG about that, that women like men, come in different flavors and we are all not the same. I just delete and if they continue to message me, I then block them.
So live your life, be happy and do not worry about what other people think. The truth is there are just some rude unenlightened assholes in life and on the internet.

I've found aspects of Gorean useful in My quest to be a half-decent Master. I like the idea of the slave as treasured posession, a reflection of the Owner's skill as trainer and nurturer.

What little interaction I've had with Online Goreans, aside from the sane minority, who all seem to hover around the forums here, is that the ones who throw their weight around, use it to further their chauvinist, bullying agendas have never picked up a John Norman novel.

Ignore the close minded people. They are not worth your time and effort.  Whether you are Gorean or chose to be on the BDSM side of things it is your choice. Don't allow anyone to decide what is right for you. There should be no need whatsoever to defend your life and what you choose to do with it.
Just my take on this subject

Personally, there's two reasons I don't do Gorean. First, I'm a dominant female, which is problematic in Gorean lifestyle stuff, and I really wasn't impressed by the books. But to each their own, and the only time I ever get annoyed by it is when someone thinks that because I don't have dangly bits I'm inferior to him. Otherwise, live and let live and have fun with your life.

I thought there were/are Dominant women in Gor?. And people actually see You as inferior because You're a woman?. Forgeting D/s for a second, as a human being I think whoever said that to You or even implied it is a f***er.

G'day or perhaps I should say Tal Loric. Goreans tend to be on the receiving end of flack from time to time and nearly always from people who are either ignorant about the Gorean Lifestyle as opposed to Gorean Roll Play, or have had a bad experience in either or both the Gorean Lifestyle and Gorean Roll Play. I was virtually ostrocised for years in my local communities because I identified as a Gorean Lifestyle Master. As I have noted in my profile I was part of the Gorean Lifestyle for nigh on ten years before moving on the the Victorian Lifestyle but remain in regular contact with my mentors in the USA who are and have been for many years Gorean Lifestylers.

Regarding rude emails, simple...Block and delete. Suck it up, look them in the eye and move on for they are beneath you. That my friend is very Gorean..

I avoid people who are into the gor mentality.  I have met far to many into the fantasy aspects and general disrespect in assuming I wish to be called "girl" rather than by my  name.  It irks me as much as it might bug them should I call them boy.  I decided long ago just to take a pass on anyone with gor in their mindset.... lol but the reasons above are not why.
The reason I smirk when I see gor is that they all go into that blustering about "honor and respect".  Umm.. excuse me.. what do they think people outside of gor are doing?  When I grew up, respect was not simply calling someone sir or maam.. it was the general behavior of doing unto others as they would do unto you. Most people I know still walk through life the way their parents taught them.  But I get the feeling from people in gor that perhaps they were raised a different way.
I don't know why a stranger would comment on a bad profile.  I only drop emails (which I did earlier) to men whose profile suggests to me .. reality and respect.

I do believe that your first sentence set out your attitude and views of those of the Gorean Lifestyle. The rest appears to be you taking an opportunity to bash Gor which is a shame really. However your opinions are valid for you and as such I for one respect them and your right to express them even though I don't agree with some of what you say

My question is, why didn't you post this thread under the Gor catagory? That's where it belongs. You are obviously looking for support from other Goreans.

I have absolutely no love whatsoever for Gor, Norman, or those who fanatically follow him. As others on this forum will tell you, I've been rather vocal about that fact. But, I believe everyone has a right to believe however they like, no matter how dangerous or wrongheaded their belief system is.

You, OP, must be fairly new to online. If a single out-of-the-blue email has thrown you like this. The only advice I can give you is to A) ignore it (as you already seem to be doing) and B) grow a thicker skin. You have an opinion... a belief system. You picked up some "Z" grade adventure paperbacks, and decided to mold your life's philosophy around them. That's great, you found something that gives you some kind of code to live by. (seriously!) But no matter what that belief or opinion is, there will always be people who disagree with it. Add to that fact that people are annonymous online, and you have a formula for unlimited rudeness.

If the attacks continue, and they become personal, and/or threatening, be sure to report them to the mods. That's what they're here for.

Thanks for that. I was sitting here trying to come up with a response that wouldn't get me in bad with Mod 11, but you said it much better than I ever could have.

To the OP - some people feel better when they put others down...just ignore them. Oh and ignore the ones who tell you where to put your posts. If you want to hear from primarily Gorean people, then you could consider putting it under the Gor heading. If you want opinions from everyone, then general discussion is the place. If the mods have a problem with it, then they will move it to the proper spot. Keep in mind there will always be those who will get their panties in a bunch when they hear the world Gor. My experience has been that they really have no clue what it is all about. Kinda like when age play is brought up and people start screaming "pedophile"

Sorry, but no one; not human or animal; deserves anything from anyone. It's earned through actions.

As for the Gorean part; one thing I have learned about Goreans.

They would never come to a message board and start a complaint that someone does not respect them or their choices.

Goreans tend to shrug their shoulders and go on with the process of living. They could care less whether or not someone agrees with their life, thoughts, actions, or choices. They are way too busy living.

I disagree. The op was looking for opinions from everyone, not just goreans.
Why would you think that it belonged in the gorean section?

My opinions are based on the few gor I have met in person.  I stand by what I say based on that observation.  If it was a view of what I see online it wouldn't mean anything as I never visit the gor forum.
If it is percieved as an insult I cannot help that part, I can only say what I have noticed.  People used to be as honorable as their parents raised them to be.  I don't claim honor as a badge.. it is simply being decent.

From the first sentence in your post one could surmise that you don't wish to be treated with respect and common decency, however, I am sure that is not the case.  As to the rest of your post, I did not start a complaint, rather I asked how many Goreans have had similar problems and their response to it.

missturbation,

See? He's looking for opinions from Goreans... I can only guess the reason he posted here instead of on the Gorean area is because he knows he'd get slapped around if he asked a question or expressed an opinion there.
