This is to me, a horrible waste of school time and resources. Also, this is nothing more then brain washing and liberal indoctrination being done by the schools. Now, if you think there is nothing wrong with this then what if they sang  about God in such away?

Google "Hitler Youth" for an important history lesson!

Quotes of Adolf Hitler

"I begin with the young. We older ones are used up. We are rotten to the marrow. We are cowardly and sentimental. We are bearing the burden of a humiliating past, and have in our blood the dull recollection of serfdom and servility. But my magnificent youngsters! Are there any finer ones in the world? Look at these young men and boys! What material! With them, I can make a new world. This is the heroic stage of youth. Out of it will come the creative man, the man-god."
"When an opponent declares, 'I will not come over to your side,' I say calmly, 'Your child belongs to us already...What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing but this new community'."
"...Knowledge would spoil my young people. I prefer that they learn only what they pick up by following their own play instinct. But they must learn self-control. I will have them master the fear of death through the most difficult trials. That is the heroic stage of youth. Out of it will grow the stage of the free man, a human being who is the measure and center of the world."
"The German youth must be slender and supple, fast as a greyhound, tough as leather, and hard as Krupp steel. He must learn to do without, to endure criticism and injustice, to be reliable, discreet, decent, and loyal."

Leiren -> RE: Indoctrination centers (9/24/2009 3:52:56 PM)

Personally, I find this entire situation appalling. If I had children in that school, I'd pull them out and start home schooling them.

Here's a snip from another article I just read about this situation:

"Parents of students at a New Jersey elementary school are up in arms after a class of young kids was videotaped being "brainwashed" into singing the praises of President Obama.B. Bernice Young Elementary School was placed on lockdown Thursday after the school's principal received death threats over a YouTube video that showed nearly 20 children being taught songs lauding the president. Back to school night events at the school scheduled for Thursday night may be canceled, and Principal Denise King is unlikely to attend if they are held."

I'm disgusted beyond words over this fiasco. [:'(]

SpinnerofTales -> RE: Indoctrination centers (9/24/2009 4:14:27 PM)

Folks, I hate to inject a rational thought an spoil the hysteria, but you really don't have to worry about the "indoctrination" of school kids. Obama has at tops, about 7 years to go in the white house. He will, by constitutional law, be out of office before these kids can vote. I also doubt one nice song about the president is going to warp their fragile little minds.

As for singing the praises of the first black president during black history month, I again don't see a huge need to get one's panties in a bunch. If he were Irish and they sang it on St. Patrick's day, I'd be ok too. If they had done it about Bush on Stupid Texan day, I'd have had no major problem.

Once again, it seems that some people are so outraged that Obama is president that anything that doesn't paint him as the anti-christ is viewed as indoctrination.

Oh and Gift? Just as I have in past posts and on other threads, I kindly ask you to stop the Hitler crap....Obama is not Hitler, not Stalin, not Jesus and not the boogy man. He's a politician doing his job and had nothing do with this.

Now, if you want to talk about this in reasonable terms as an educational decision, I might have more agreement than disagreement with you. But until you turn down the monster shouting, forgive me if I don't take you terribly seriously.

Lucylastic -> RE: Indoctrination centers (9/24/2009 4:23:12 PM)

What is more worrying, a child learning about a positive role model during black history month or that they cant go to school because some dumbass has phoned in death threats.
Some people really have fucked up priorities.

I Believe you are lacking a perspective on the long term damage that will become of this type of propaganda. For one, these kids will grow up thinking that Obama was a great president regardless if he was or wasn't; thus, it properly secures the liberal ideology in the children.

In addition, this type of "teaching" is in fact very similar to what many dictators have done in the passed. For instance, Hitler, Stalin, and Hugo Chavez have used schools as tools to brain wash children. And, this is not teaching children about black people but having children praise someone. There is a difference.

Also, I think this has more to do with politics than Black History month. This is something political, liberal, and leftist. If they wanted to sing about someone for Black history month; they could do it on Martin Luther King who is somebody that has actually accomplished something that has affected the nation positively. So far, I have yet to see Obama do anything big other than decieve the people in to presidency.

In short, this should not be allowed nor tolerated in our school systems because it is harmful to this nation.

what the f*.. are you talking about? What does this have to do with the article. How about you keep the discussion on topic rather than branching off on what others may or may not have done.

Sanity -> RE: Indoctrination centers (9/24/2009 4:58:31 PM)

You want to see a quick 180 in this discussion on the part of the left let someone release a video where the school kids are singing the praises of Bush.

gift4mistress -> RE: Indoctrination centers (9/24/2009 5:00:16 PM)

I would disagree if someone did this on Bush as well. This is not something that should be allowed in our schools. It frightens me dearly that there are people that are so naive to such an extent that don't see what is happening. Their reasons as to why this is a good thing is because it's Black history month?

Sanity -> RE: Indoctrination centers (9/24/2009 5:01:27 PM)

Wow Lucy, keep up the good work. I'm excited for you! I've been off cigarettes for three or four years now, so keep going, it can be done. Just don't ever have that one. That one cigarette or that one drag, ever, no matter what, and you have it beat.

We already know Leiren's "problem" with Obama and anything associated with him, as evidenced by all her numerous posts regarding him and issues.

Gift, you seem to be of the same bent. no one gets upset over "yankee doodle dandy".

Do You Know?

Do you know who's on the penny?
On the penny? On the penny?
Do you know who's on the penny?
Abraham Lincoln.

Do you know who's on the quarter?
On the quarter? On the quarter?
Do you know who's on the quarter?
George Washington.

..........

Lincoln and Washington

Who gave us liberty,
Oh, honor their memories

Other than be elected president, what exactly has he done in comparison to other black leaders such as George Washington Carver, Martin Luther King, etc?

I damn sure do not see any songs being sung about them in the video which is available here:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/24/elementary-school-students-reportedly-taught-songs-praising-president-obama/

One last point...it is noted in the full article that one of the songs that was distorted is the song "Jesus Loves The Little Children" with Obama's name used instead of Jesus.
How many liberal parents would be up in arms if this song had been about Bush when he was president AND about the fact that a Christian song was used, even if Bush's name had been substituted for Jesus' name?

Spinner, it doesn't matter whether or not he is there for 1 yr or 8 yrs...it is NOT the job of school officials to be leading children in songs of praise for our president.  It IS their job to teach the kids of the ages noted what a president is and what he does and who the president is.

oh you had to didnt you... ok ..I was responding to what Leiren said. The topic is about the school that had the kids singing a song while celebrating black history month and a brand new BLACK President (Barack Hussein Obama)
Leiren mentioned that the school was in lockdown because of a death threat because of the resulting video which you alluded to.
I didn't repsond to your full post because a)you have proved yourself one to many times that you  are not worthy of my time, you are rude combative and ugly in your choice of phrase.and B
I refuse to have anything to do with ridiculous allusions to Hitler=Obama which is what the rest of your post was about..
Go and pout, I respond to who I wish, when I wish.

President Lincoln and President Washington TRULY good people to admire and look up to. They have done FAR greater things than what President Obama has done. For instance, Washington fought as a LEADING GENERAL against the greatest ARMY of that time and WON thus allowing us to be AMERICANS. Another example of this is, LINCOLN REUNITED THE NATION and FREED the blacks from slavery. As of yet, OBAMA has yet to accomplish anything to the extent of these 2 individuals.

Also, this article has nothing to do with OBAMA directly. I don't believe that OBAMA called the teacher to have the kids do this. However, what is disturbing is the people around Obama and the supporters of him seem to want him to become a their perpetual leader. Once again, stay on the topic.

If you think I am worthless to respond to then that is fine with me. But, as I write and you read; I know you began to realize how right I am. However, your ego persists you and you refuse admit what I am saying to be true so instead you revert to name calling, and you choose to shut me out. This also shows how you refuse to acknowledge what I say because you have no argument to disprove my point.

In essence, you opinion of me has no affect on my views or values. And, I find them to be entertaining. =)

Ok..let's stay on topic. What were the lyrics to this song exactly? I can't make them out well enough to judge. At what level was this song chosen, the district, the school or the teacher level? How did the supervisors of this teacher respond to this? Is this a regular part of the curriculum or something special for black history month (because the first black president is a big moment in history)?

Is anyone going to bother getting the facts before getting all wee-wee'd up about this?

tazzygirl -> RE: Indoctrination centers (9/24/2009 5:29:32 PM)

I am on topic. Try growing up and realizing that. The topic is about children singing about a President... unless you want to make this about race... or politics.. thats the topic. you dont agree. i could care less.

As far as Washington and Lincoln.. yes... good men... with lots of faults. Washington owned slaves. Lincoln's wife;s family did too. That neither added too, in either man's case, nor took away from them. They were both great men in their own rights.

Obama broke the "white" ceiling on the White House. Many often agreed there would be a black President before there was a female one. That certainly came true.

But to belittle a bunch of children in their attempts to sing a song... its no different than when the Democrats did it over Bush. It was wrong then... its wrong now... and people should allow CHILDREN to be CHILDREN and NOT impose their political leanings against them.

Quitting smoking is easy if you read this book. You’ve already quit smoking because in three days 99% of the nicotine is out of your body. If you’re in a bad mood it’s because you’re brainwashed that you enjoy smoking.

He used to smoke five packs a day.
