There was a story on the local news tonight, regarding "negro", it's still an option on the census forms. They're going to include a question, in 2020, for crying out loud, asking if people think it should be removed.

Aye Carumba!  Rich I had to step away from many people with "good intentions"
that kept beating me over the head stating race was not an issue {during the last election}.
I literally just didn't and still don't read "many of their opinions".
I especially can't listen to people of say "another race" tell me that shit.

Sometimes you just have to say fuck it and move on, especially online.

As a Black woman I ain't fittin to argue with "know it all" White or Black people
that are going to tell ME, that race ain't often an issue.
I would never say it is ALWAYS an issue, but it sure the hell is often an issue.

PEACE

Obama First White House Contender to Call for Imus' Firing Over Racial Slur

In an interview with ABC News Wednesday afternoon, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., called for the firing of talk radio host Don Imus. Obama said he would never again appear on Imus' show, which is broadcast on CBS Radio and MSNBC television.

"I understand MSNBC has suspended Mr. Imus," Obama told ABC News, "but I would also say that there's...

"I understand MSNBC has suspended Mr. Imus," Obama told ABC News, "but I would also say that there's nobody on my staff who would still be working for me if they made a comment like that about anybody of any ethnic group. And I would hope that NBC ends up having that same attitude."

Obama said he appeared once on Imus' show two years ago, and "I have no intention of returning." Racial Slur Stirs Trouble for Shock Jock Last week, Imus referred to the Rutgers University women's basketball team, most of whom are African-American, as "nappy-headed hos." He has since apologized for his remarks, and CBS and MSNBC suspended his show for two weeks.

"He didn't just cross the line," Obama said. "He fed into some of the worst stereotypes that my two young daughters are having to deal with today in America. The notions that as young African-American women -- who I hope will be athletes -- that that somehow makes them less beautiful or less important. It was a degrading comment. It's one that I'm not interested in supporting."

And your point is?

Many people called for Imus to be fired.  You don't think this comment crosses the line?

To save Reid, Democrats plan to deal race card back to GOP

Democrats are preparing to throw the race card back in the laps of Republicans as part of a counterattack designed to help save Harry Reid’s political career.

First, Reid’s allies plan to distribute the NAACP vote ratings of Republican senators who have scolded him. The data will be made available to editorial boards, cable programs and the blogosphere — including votes on minimum wage, community-oriented policing, education funding and HIV/AIDS programs.

Separately, the Congressional Black Caucus plans to issue a new statement Monday, defending Reid and brushing back Republicans.

“Senator Reid’s record provides a stark contrast to actions of Republicans to block legislation that would benefit poor and minority communities — most recently reflected in Republican opposition to the health bill now under consideration,” CBC Chairwoman Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) said. “I look forward to Senator Reid continuing to serve as Majority Leader to guide this important agenda through the Senate.”

Not to defend him, but he is an old guy from an area of the country that had a lot of Klan activity in his youth.

I personally always wondered why he keeps getting re-elected, but it is West Virginia we're talking about.

Yes.  Let us defend a racist by means of homophobia.  Is this an example of liberal enlightenment?

Reid is an idiot, somewhat truthful, but a moron no doubt.  But ya gotta love the word "negro."  It's a fucking hoot to say.

This is what Lott said:

"I want to say this about my state: When Strom Thurmond ran for President, we voted for him. We're proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years, either."

Is this close to the same thing?

If you can't see the difference there is no point in continuing forward.

What Lott said is ridiculous. he is talking about voting for a known racist for President. A man that if elected would have had dire repercussions for every black person residing within this country...

In 1948 Thurmond ran for President he only carried four states and received 39 electoral votes. In one 1948 speech, met with cheers by supporters, this is what Thurmond had to say...

"I wanna tell you, ladies and gentlemen, that there's not enough troops in the army to force the Southern people to break down segregation and admit the nigra race into our theaters, into our swimming pools, into our homes, and into our churches."

If anyone thinks that Reid is promoting the same thing as Lott please speak up.

I implore you to please utilize the smallest level of common sense before you start typing.

Yup, Strom Thurmond's only platform was segregation, and that is the only thing Lott could possibly have been referring to as "problems".

Sorry, but if you can only read race into his comments, you are the racist.

So, big fucking deal I am a racist.....So Einstein, what were the other "problems" in '48 That Strom would have dealt with differently than his opponents.

All ears here, can't wait for you to explain to this racist what "enlightening" solutions that Mr Thurmond had in store for this country to deall with the "problems."

You should go research Lott's comments before you make yourself look like more of an uneducated and ill informed ass.

Sabe?

You're post is why several GOP (McCain and a few others) officials are supporting Reid and saying the GOP is wrong with asking him to step down, because it brings Lott back into the fight and they all wanted him to go away years ago.  If Bush wanted him to stay on he would have, the GOP left him out to dry

Okay, let me try to explain this to you.

And I will try to go slow, so if you get confused again just let me know.

We were talking about Byrd and the Klan.

The Klan had a strong presence in West Virginia, and still does have a presence there.

The clip was not homophobic, it was hillbillyphobic.

You have seen "Deliverance"?  It was a pretty well-known movie.  In fact, some even call it a classic.

And I think you've read enough of my posts to know I am hardly homophobic.

Which then raises the question of how you think a scene from the movie in which a toothless hillbilly raping another guy is homophobic unless you somehow thought they were having consensual sex, which wouldn't surprise me since so many things seem to escape your attention.

Dickhead try and get this through  your thick skull.  Last attempt with you because you are probably just a nutbag.

Thurmond was a segregationist.  Lott spoke of his state backing  Strom in the '48 election.  I gave you both quotes.

So dickhead, now that you are armed with this information...Please tell all what were the other possible motivations for Lott saying what he did?  If not referencing Strom's stand on segregation?

Idiot.

Is this too fucking hard for  you to understand? You are probably just really slow.
