Ever worked your way up into living in a decent little neighborhood, only to see it become a ghetto because of an influx of subsidized housing? Perhaps you should have made better choices Or are those things blocked by the blinders of liberal guilt? Your mileage probably varies considerably. California has something like 10-11% percent of the US population, but damn near a third of the welfare caseload. It looks different from where I sit. Perhaps if you were to actually research your subject you might feel differently. It would be nice if you were to be able to actually substantiate your figures.

People are so easy to manipulate...it worries me that with the spread of computers and the internet that propagandists like these assholes will be able to falsely influence world opinion so easily. I started noticing this mass media manipulation during the lead up to Clinton’s dispatching of Marines to Somalia… with all the pictures of children with flies in their eyes… then the swift boat and gay marriage fiasco. I think American style sensationalism in mass media is dangerous. Just look at the lead up to the Iraq war…half-truths and unsubstantiated claims. The average citizen in search of entertainment rather then in depth news reporting ignores good news services like NPR and BBC. I look around me here on CM and I see the same manipulation of seemingly intelligent people that think a link to a radical website represents the truth…what idiots. Butch

For them to eat cake, they're have to be a federal cake programme to hand the cake out: nobody on the right would ever vote for that as it's big government, and nobody on the left would dare to vote for it in case somebody called them a socialist. That'd never happen. You're more likely to see Glenn "I'm not Jeff" Beck setting up a slush fund to pay for unfairly dismissed gay people's legal costs out of his own pocket...

Are you saying that because many rental property owners are decent, hardworking people who are treated badly by tenants and are justified in throwing them out, there are no property owners who take unfair advantage of their tenants? You said you were "persistent," if I recall correctly. I'd expect nothing less than what you offer from the welfare wastoids and those afflicted with an entitlement mentality themselves. Yeah, Julia, it is class warfare. Those with the class to accept personal responsibility for their lives and choices, and those who want to cry about being victims, who have none.

I got loans, grants, and scholarships. I am in grad school now, and I suppose I "gamed" the system because my grades, etc, qualified me for free tuition.. in other words they wanted me because I could do the work that makes them look good. If that is gaming the system, I hope everyone learns how...I'm not the one that wants to keep people down and ignorant , you are. I only had to go on government assistance when I was working a low wage job that laid me off every winter and did not pay enough for me to provide insurance for my little one... I did what you advocated through most of the years I raised my son, it got me nadda fucking thing... Now I am sitting pretty...Why? It is called going to college, and I thought that was the American Dream.... you are jealous of people who took advantage of opportunities... . I have worked my ass off in my life, and the more educated I get and the better the money gets, the less hard I have to work.
