However assuming I am mistaken, lets consider what it means to be polite. Politeness once meant taking into consideration other peoples feelings and beliefs, even assuming them to be totally wrong but letting them stand as is because you wanted to be "polite" Oh look the moon is swiss cheese, if you say so. So forth and so on. Politeness would not include going into someone elses house and expecting things to be done your way. If some one asked you to do something and it was reasonable you would do it to be polite. "Excuse me, do you have the time?" "If you are going to throw that newspaper away would you mind letting me have it to read?" Simple things most often showing courtesy on the part of the person asking and also on the person responding.

That's exactly why I don't regard specifically asking people not to post as polite. To publically devalue someone's opinion because of their gender or orientation is simply rude.
quote:

As so many here have no clue what politeness means since to them it strictly is self oriented. Someone asked me to do something??? How RUDE?? As one example. Asking a person to so something is almost never rude unless it is harmful, as in "Hey LaTigresse why dont you take a long walk on a short pier."

Actually that's not true at all. Many questions are rude and many versions of questions that could be polite but are phrased rudely are well... rude.

Perfect example: "I'll ignore all subs" vs. "I'm mostly interested in the responses of dominants".

Politeness is taking other people's feelings into account. There is nothing to be gained from insulting the opinion of a particular group by announcing that it is undesired and unneeded when all they have to do is not respond to the posts by those users.

I take it that you don't ever visit the Politics and Religion forum,  do you?

Prowling for a virgin to sacrifice?

hee!

What the OP considers "rude" behavior would be considered some of the most well mannered posts in the PR forums.

When I visit outside, I'm always amazed at how nice and friendly most threads are.

It's a matter of perspective, I think.  And learning how to operate in a different environment.

I suspect that the OP isn't that experienced in this particular social milieu of personal interactions.

In other words, it is more his lack of understanding of the environment and his colored perceptions than it is actual rudeness on the part of most posters.

He is attempting to define an entirely separate and distinct culture by his own, narrow cultural beliefs and guidelines, and is confused.

I will give him credit that he seems to be asking, and from that learning may occur.

MY POINT.........was..... who's version of POLITE do you suggest we utilize?

Well lets see how to answer this whiny self absorbed passive aggressive post that seems to feel a post forces them to do something?

Just use mine. Works like a charm (most of the time).
Apparently, I have a tendancy to get "muddled".

In other words, I fuck up way too often to get by without being polite.

Maybe he should visit the P&R section... just to learn what "rude" may be.

You could have a point. For example in this thread, I have asked the OP a question a couple of times and he has totally ignored me and my question. How fucking rude is that?

Actually multiple threads on the same topic in different forums is against TOS. (not a joke)

Did you miss the part where that is against TOS and the mods will delete one of the threads?

This being the sum total of all those important replies, none of which addressed the point in anyway, was why it was not replied to. Stating a rule does not require a reply. As a baby Mod you may well one day grow up into one. If a Mod had a serious issue with my postings I am sure they would let me know. They moved the thread so were reading it. Though to be fair, perhaps they felt you had made the point for them and they did not need to? If so thank you for your point which I read, but there was no need to reply since it was not and did not address anything dealing with the points of this discussion. It just addressed a possible rules violation. What did you really need? Me to validate that you had stated a rule of Collarme? Consider yourself validated. I would stamp your diapered bum as proof but online stamping just does not really work well.

Aqua, me too. I would be moderated in a nansecond if I posted there. Once I went in and faced some lunatic about the holocaust not being real and realized, mercifully quickly, that I did not have the patience to deal with that insanity.

How rude and dismissive. She never claimed she was looking to be a Mod, you never answered her questions and then you insult her to boot.

The only validation I see here is your extraordinary density, rudeness and no evidence of having learned anything in this thread.

Tazzy, I thought you liked me! Now you want to make my toes into piranha-chow! Athough... if I were missing toes, I'd have smaller feet and then I could wear cuter shoes...

And Red, I'm totally with ya. I go in there every now and then but it's really not a "happy" place for me on the forum.

Can you give me the defininition you use, in triplicate, with all the big lawyerese words? I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a definition today to paraphrase.

Politeness should be used all the time. Many will not. At times everyone will stop being polite. Some a lot sooner than others lol. Some never learned. Oh well. It was a thought I and some friends had. If nothing else, it caused a lot of thought, at least on how best to insult me lol.

The mods aren't going to moderate you for suggesting something that is against the rules. But because it's against the rules people have been trying to point out to you that it's simply not going to work on CM.

Do you really feel that your post was polite?
