WANT to get their tubes tied? Many do want to get their tubes tied... and are told by Drs that until they have a few kids and are at least 25 then they wont do the procedure.

As far as keeping their legs closed... why should they. They can get pregnant by some poor, innocent, rich sob and they are set for life, sitting back in the house he pays for, driving the car he pays for, wearing the designer clothes he pays for....

wait... that isnt how it happens?

Jesus, even Reagan had higher taxes and you didn't see some grand exodus of outraged millionaires.  We even had millionaires back when the brackets were in the 90% range.

Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont gave a speech on the Senate floor lasting more than eight hours opposing extending tax cuts for the wealthy. Why didn't President Obama listen to him? If Obama had ended tax cuts for the wealthy and cut military spending, the most vulnerable Americans wouldn't have to worry about much needed services being cut. What was it like when tax brackets for the rich were in the 90% range? Jobs paid more (in ratio with that time period) and offered better benefits. Only one income was needed to support a family. We had a strong economy because we had a strong middle class. And despite the high tax rates, we still had millionaires. Sanders knows what needs to be done to save and grow this economy. If only our president, congress, and senate would follow his advice.

Glenn is that you????
The non-profit group that provides life-saving medical screenings to millions of women every year is only used by “hookers,” according to right-wing conspiracy host Glenn Beck.
http://www.rawstory.com/rawreplay/2011/04/glenn-beck-claims-only-hookers-use-planned-parenthood/
Independent research shows that each year Planned Parenthood plays a role in preventing over 2 million unwanted pregnancies and stopping over 800,000 women from getting abortions, saving public agencies billions of dollars in the process. Without the group, research shows that America’s overall abortion rate would be two-thirds higher, with numbers nearly doubling among poorer women. The group says that only three percent of their patients request abortion services.

Of course that's how it happens...well...used to happen.  Now what I see happening is women demanding HUGE alimony payments from men whose businesses have gotten totally wiped out and are teetering on bankruptcy.  That the family fortune is gone (and they know it), that doesn't stop them from asking for $6,000.00 per month in alimony and then child support on top of that and then work related day care on top of that.

But...such is the demise of the institution of marriage.  Do you know what group gets married the LEAST these days?  It is white men between the ages of 24 and 40.  In the United States, men don't have a nationwide group like NOW or some other ridiculous banner to march under that provides them with talking points.  Nonetheless, men seemed to have realized en mass that marriage is a rigged game that often leads to financial ruin.

Sorry if you can't face the reality of what abortion brings into the social equation. You're a lib, of course, and libs just ain't good with the unintended consequences of their good deeds.

It's funny what gets revealed in those moments. So you're perfectly happy to strip one gender of reproductive rights, huh?

I think males should have equal reproductive rights when they can carry a baby for nine months and give birth. Lets not kid ourselves here, when relationships fail it is usually the women left holding the baby.

Why the hell any men thinks he has the "right" to direct a woman to have his child is beyond me.

Im sorry... reproductive rights?

I read some time ago an article about how men would have the same rights to reproduction as women when the womb is outside of the body.

God help me, but I have to agree with Richie, and this is a first if anyone is keeping track.

Women want to be able make the decision on their own, but once that kid pops out then it is the man's responsibility to support it.

Or reverse that and say the man wants the baby and the woman doesn't.

This is not a one-way street though you are trying to argue it is.

JESUS!  Could Rule be...right?  No...no, no, no, no, no.  Na-uh.
Well...maybe just this once.

If a man has no say in whether his child is aborted, the woman should have no right to have the child supported.  That is not the law but that day may be coming.  The law has changed, practically speaking, in almost all jurisdictions in the United States in that a woman who refuses to make the child available for parenting time will lose custody or lose support.  I thank that is a premise that most rational people can agree with.

Here is where the law is still very fucked up.  A woman will get knocked up, have the kid, come back five years into the picture and request support.  In those 5 years, the man did not know the child existed, the man has not seen the child once, hasn't imparted his mark on the child and for all intents and purposes, the child is not his.  Still...parenting time must be insisted on by the man as well as "make-up time" for the years he has lost.  What the law should be is that if a woman has a man's child without his knowledge and waits more than two years to seek support AND consent to his establishing parenting time, she should be time barred from seeking support.

Sure...all sorts of ding-bats are now going to try to change the argument and talk about the father who is the psychotic crack head, etc.  Please, let's not get off on a stupid tangent dealing with hypothetical handicaps to parent status.

OH....and Rule, better watch yourself, sport.  The argument you advanced for parenting rights for men is an extremely conservative viewpoint.

See???  Told ya!  There may be as many stories as there are parents but there is a very short list of behaviors that render a person unfit to be a parent.  The fact is that the vast majority of people are deemed fit by the court.  Most people lose their parenting rights over drug use and its attendant consequences.

Lucylastic -> RE: Democrats tuck their tails and shiver in the corner (4/11/2011 3:02:21 PM)

how have I tried to change the subject? You were using hypotheticals,
never mind, I dont care what insult you try to come up with.

There's no need to resort to contrived hypotheticals at all.

We are only discussing what happens when agreement between the mother- and father-to-be cannot be reached. No need to involve payment supports or anything else. They are separate issues to be decided on their own merits. In situations where agreement can't be reached, the final call lies with the woman because she is one whose body gestates the infant. Simple isn't it? What's so difficult about that to understand or accept?

If some men feel this rule is unfair, there's nothing forcing them to play the game. Go find another game where the outcomes are equal for everyone involved. There is no right for men to have sex, it's not an automatic entitlement. Nor is there an obligation. Sex is a choice. There is a situation where a man can enter into consensual arrangements with a woman to have sex together.

If some men are concerned about having unwanted children 'forced' upon them, there are simple precautions they can take to prevent this called contraception. Tho it could just as accurately be called responsibility.

outhere69 -> RE: Democrats tuck their tails and shiver in the corner (4/11/2011 7:00:49 PM)

Hey CD, I tried to get my tubes tied when I was 26 and was turned down.  My OB/GYN told me that "the regret rate was too high."  They also will turn you down for IUDs unless you've already had at least one child.

Oh yeah, list all the changes in birth control pills since the '70s, why they have a higher failure rate now, and what common medications make pills worthless.

Or use a condom every time you use your wanger.  Or get your own tubes tied first.  It's a hell of a lot easier for guys.

Or are what is your point. Are you trying to tell us that you know better than any of the above people how much debt we should be taking on as a nation?

I can tell you that we raise it due to money that's already been obligated.  You can stabilize or even decrease the debt ceiling in the future by raising revenue and cutting expenses, but if you freeze it now and default on those obligations, you'll bring the world's economies to their knees.

US bonds are (perhaps it'll be "were") regarded as extremely safe investments.  Default on our debt and there will be hell to pay.

Lucylastic -> RE: Democrats tuck their tails and shiver in the corner (4/11/2011 7:09:31 PM)

Mine would only cut mine after I had three, and I got pregnant a year later.
And I had been married for six years.
I doubt many men could name one company name for the pill, let alone whats in it or the health problems that arise.(without googling it or peeking at the wifes supply)
The fact that the wilful ignorance is rampant is  all the more reason to have good services for women, not fewer

Isn't that the point TheHeretic. Like, when are you going to worry about being pregnant? It's one reality you will never have to face. Someone has to be pregnant before abortion enters any equation. Why do insist on imposing your view on someone who's in a place you'll never be and can make their own choices for themselves? And the same someone who has to live with the consequences, no matter the circumstances.

You seem to be under the impression that I'm opposed to abortion, Tweak. I am, in fact, pro-choice right up to the moment we can just adopt out a preemie. It's a deeply ugly sort of thing though, and I won't allow the holier-than-thou to deny what it often is. In fact, I can't think of any batch of fluffybunnies anywhere, more in need of having a few buckets of blood poured over them.

No, I'm not going to get pregnant. I might get lied to about birth control, blackmailed for a few hundred dollars on a fake pregnancy claim, or get a monthly bill for 18 years, though (did you know they take the driver's license away, if child support isn't paid on time here? They'll also suspend any business/professional licenses, seize bank accounts, and revoke the passport).

A woman's right to choose is a man's right not to be trapped. There is no one, without the other. Cry yourself a river, build yourself a bridge, and get over it.

Same here. I tried to get my tubes tied at 20 and was told that I had to wait until I was 30 or had at least 2 kids. [8|][8|][8|]

Amazing how much ignorance creeps out
This came today on his raido show(above)
also Huckabee said PP is primarily an abortion provider on fox n friends
Breitbart tried to say that a PP clinic isnt licensed to provide mammograms, when in fact they have mammogram partners that they send the women to.
and fox n friends, that other paragon of truth and balance  SAYS THAT YOU CAN GET PAP SMEARS AT WALGREEENS so PP isnt needed
Lots of people need to get a freaking clue, or be zapped every time they lie out of their asses
