Here we are again in 2011 with yet another possible government shut down thanks to Republicans. This is history repeating itself all over all. When Republicans were in control of the U.S. House and Senate back in the mid 90's,they caused another government shutdown.

Its amazing when Democrats won the U.S. Senate and House back in 2006,they were able to get along well enough with then Republican President George Bush to avoid a government shutdown. Its clear the Republican can not govern properly anymore. They really are a threat to the United States of America.

Well, Charles, since you obviously don't believe it takes two to tango...

Bill Clinton caused the mid-90's shut down.

Here we were again in 2011 with yet another possible government shut down thanks to Democrats. Last year Obama and the Democrats were supposed to but didn't even propose a budget for 2011, nevermind enact one. This year Obama and the Democrats rejected every Republican "Continuing Resolution", which brought us to the brink last night. It's clear the Democrats can not govern properly anymore. They really are a threat to the United States of America. Especially since Obama isn't even eligible to be POTUS/C-I-C!!!!

Lucylastic -> RE: yellow repubs take it out on womens health and rights (4/9/2011 1:46:06 PM)

Sorry Rich, it most certainly does.
As for the asshole men....I say snip all men at birth and we wouldnt need PP or half the health issues women face thru getting pregnant, let alone having to make that "other"choice.
Ill be quite happy to retro fit every man who thinks he has a right to tell women, any woman what they must do with their bodies, and think they should legislate against her right over her own body.
However....I have more chance of becoming the popes third wife, so my fantasy just remains fantasy.
Symbolic my arse, real women will be and are  effected by the state rules,.You arent  dense by any stretch of the imagination

TheHeretic -> RE: Democrats tuck their tails and shiver in the corner (4/9/2011 2:28:16 PM)

Sorry if you can't face the reality of what abortion brings into the social equation. You're a lib, of course, and libs just ain't good with the unintended consequences of their good deeds.

It's funny what gets revealed in those moments. So you're perfectly happy to strip one gender of reproductive rights, huh?

Lucylastic -> RE: Democrats tuck their tails and shiver in the corner (4/9/2011 2:49:59 PM)

Strawman much?did you miss where I said fantasy?? not even advocating, you wanna apologise for some of your fantasies?
I thought not.Ive already had one dumbass mail me callin me a man hater, waaaaah poor lil man
Im from the UK living in Canada, both of which have womens health rights and choices in their charters, and both countries are part of the UN on human rights
I make no apologies for that and I celebrate that right for ALL women, no matter their location.
You seem to be fine with denying women the same chances
or am I putting words in your mouth
Nice huh
so lets not go there again

You guys better find someone who has some credibility quick or this is going to be an easy Obama victory.

Why do you believe there is a need for urgency, RML? Has Sarah finally lost her special magic for you, and you can't get enough hate-pieces on Bachmann yet to get a nut?

I think the serious candidates are wise to just hang back a bit. It's early yet, and letting President Obama's record and job performance sink in with the voters seems like a very inexpensive way to campaign. Time things just right, between the gradual acceptance by the public that electing Obama was one big ass mistake, and the kookiness of the early media favorites from the right, Mitch Daniels (for example) might look like a 6'4" knight in shining armor, gallantly charging in on a white stallion.

TheHeretic -> RE: Democrats tuck their tails and shiver in the corner (4/9/2011 2:52:12 PM)

And you're still not looking that ugly reality in the eye, are you Lucy?

Lucylastic -> RE: Democrats tuck their tails and shiver in the corner (4/9/2011 2:56:10 PM)

Ive dealth with it more times than you can imagine Rich, I know reality just too well
its fucking ugly, truth often is
That doesnt mind that there arent other ways of dealing with situations.
Denying women the choices over their bodies is a huge step on the slippery slope
Insult my philosophy if you care, but do NOT tell me I dont see reality.

TheHeretic -> RE: Democrats tuck their tails and shiver in the corner (4/9/2011 3:02:55 PM)

The government isn't denying anyone a choice, Lucy. Yet you accuse me of strawmanning.

Lucylastic -> RE: Democrats tuck their tails and shiver in the corner (4/9/2011 3:10:39 PM)

ignore the rest of it huh
I never said fed
I said states
http://www.collarchat.com/fb.asp?m=3630114
Yes you were strawmanning

TheHeretic -> RE: Democrats tuck their tails and shiver in the corner (4/9/2011 4:44:10 PM)

Bullshit, Lucy. This is all about the feds. This is about the Democrats being forced into a fight, staking their ground, and then losing it.

I realize you have no dog in the fight, and just think it's amusing to dabble in our politics, so I'm not surprised that you have missed one of the most critical elements in play here. The reason we had this fight at all this year is because the previously Democrat controlled Congress failed to even try to pass a budget. In the military, that would be called dereliction of duty. Not, they couldn't get one throught the obstructionist Republicans, mind you. They never even tried.

They got their asses kicked for it, and rightly so. You have no clue about any of that, but are perfectly happy to pick up the talking point that it's all about being mean to women.

Lucylastic -> RE: Democrats tuck their tails and shiver in the corner (4/9/2011 4:54:25 PM)

Oh you are talking such a crock of shit ... yes this thread is about the budget, but I was talking specifically about the states and abortion, I even pointed out... yes a derail, but there was the PP link but you haven't responded to that other than to call me a know nothing nosy bitch, well fuck you, if you didnt know what I as discussing that is your fault. Should have called me on the derail earlier, talk about obfuscation then accusing me of clueless
Your nose is bent out of shape because I cant agree with the crap your politicians are proposing
so change the goalposts and  Im the dumb arse, fair enough,
go right ahead, you are the one running away.
Try being alittle more dishonest why dont you.

I think males should have equal reproductive rights when they can carry a baby for nine months and give birth. Lets not kid ourselves here, when relationships fail it is usually the women left holding the baby.

Why the hell any men thinks he has the "right" to direct a woman to have his child is beyond me.

Actually, they did try, whether you want to believe it or not, and every time the budget was brought up in the senate, the REPUBLICANS filibustered it. It is a matter of record. The Republicans have made it clear they are in no mood to compromise.

TheHeretic -> RE: Democrats tuck their tails and shiver in the corner (4/9/2011 7:12:44 PM)

Well I'm back from an early dinner out, and several adult beverages, Mike. Looks like you are stuck with me instead.

slvemike4u -> RE: Democrats tuck their tails and shiver in the corner (4/9/2011 7:25:06 PM)

Well, while Lucy is of course a loss, and I much prefer the company of the ladies rather than the male of the species...if you can tolerate my drug addled mind......I'm game [:)]

That is all true, TheHeretic.  But the point is that we have a democrat president (and formerly a democrat controlled house and senate) who has spent a great deal more than his predecessor and
and are fighting like badgers of a less-than-2%-cut-in-the-budget.
See:

http://blogs.ajc.com/kyle-wingfield/2010/07/13/bushs-deficits-vs-obamas-deficits-in-one-graph/

The fact is that our angle of decent is so steep that we will not pull it out.
See the article from the notoriously liberal St.Petersburg Times:

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2011/mar/21/paul-ryan/paul-ryan-says-cbo-model-self-destructs-due-rising/

Instead of talking 2% we need to be talking 25 to 30 percent.
