Had to ditch 8 pairs of pants and 6 shirts.  They were just way too big.  You aren't supposed have the MC Hammer balloon legging look in a pair of Levis are you?  The shirts looked like some kind of survival thing that could be used as a tent if it rained or as a sail on a boat.  It's nice to get back into some of my old clothes.  Like I said earlier, it's not deliberate thing, just a lifestyle change and the weight loss in a nice side effect.

I kinda slacked on using Sparkpeople, but I need to get back to it. I hadn't eaten much thanks to stress so I figured there wasn't much point in charting anything. =p
Oh well =p

But things are letting up and getting back to normal, so, I gotta get back to being serious so I don't relearn any bad habits.

A shirt I love is now officially too big -- you can sometimes get away with them being a little loose, but at some point it becomes too much. I've given away some clothes, and will be going down another jean size soon. =) Hooray ^_^

I love a big floppy shirt.  They are so comfortable... but when it looks like you stood up in a tent., it's just too damn big.

Grats on slimming down.

I am stuck on 290 for now.  I know these things happen.

I am thinking of getting a few kettle bells to work my core with.  Different sizes to build up my strength.  Does it sound like a good idea to y'all? (Mom does not want me to get a gym membership).

I had to look up Kettle Bells.  (video link)    That is a bit different than pumping iron with barbells.  They seem very nice.  Thank you mentioning them.  I'm going down to the sporting goods store today and grab some of those.  They don't take up nearly as much room as a set of full set of barbells and Youtube is loaded with training videos.  It reminds me a lot of Martial Arts training.  Seems like it does a great job building your core.

Thanks for teaching this old dog a new trick.

Kettlebells are on my list, too -- but they usually stress "learn proper form!" you can really hurt your back if you do something the wrong way.

I love kettle bells and you can do a lot of different things with them! My favorite is squats and swinging the kettle bell at the same time, so I'm working a couple of different areas on the body.

I have lost about 15 pounds. I haven't been doing a full rounded workout though. I've been mostly hiking, running, and playing soccer with the dogs. I do this at least 5 days a week no matter the weather. Walking on the snow reminds me of sand so I get a good resistance there. I do think that the resistance on the leash has worked nicely for my arms. I did over do it last week. We went on a 7 mile hike that was quite hilly and my quads hurt for days!

I took everhope to the sprorts store and got a set of Kettle Bells and a Total Gym 1000.   I have limited room in the house so this set up gives us enough gear for a full work routine.  Using the different sized bells and increasing the incline of the gym will let you do real live progressive resistance training.   It's a lot of bang for the buck and it takes no more room that an ironing board and a bread box.

The Kettle Bells were cheap, $2 a pound.  The used Total Gym 1000 was $89 from Play It Again sports .  By the way, I think the Total Gym is a lot better than a Bowflex with half the foot print.

Fr

I've been doing cardio twice a day on days I don't lift. It's starting to work. Starting to get some slight muscle separation. I should be down about 20 pounds by summer. So ill be able to see what kind of progress I'm making then.

Another pair of old jeans reclaimed. ^_^
I figure if I can wear them out and about for a while, and not feel like I'm going to die, then -- they're really wearable.

WTG Lilly!

I had reached a plateau...I hate these things.

Will get my kettlebells next month as part of trying to strengthen my lower back and shoulders. I got a trip to lose weight for in August and I don't want to pay for the extra seat (told Mom my butt is not that big).

I might make an appearance in here.! I want to lose about 35lbs, but also tone up the bits they require it, increase general fitness & flexibility.

Joining a gym today! Scary!

Gyms are good at keeping you motivated. At first it's all the people who are in better shape. Then when you become one of them, it's the drive to keep your place in line.

Good luck.

Yeah. These days with so many different types of gyms you have plenty of choices.
Getting motivated to go is the hard part. But once you're there, chances are you'll put in the work.

kitkat105 -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (3/1/2012 1:31:51 AM)

It's a pretty awesome gym.

It's a women's only gym. I've signed up for a thing called the "Fernwood Get Foxy Challenge". It's a 12 week program involving weekly food coaching, 12 personal training sessions, group & personal challenges (2-4 per week). Also includes unlimited access to the gym and classes (yoga, pilates, zumba, body attack, etc etc).

I'd like to aim to be going 5-6 times per week, and go for a walk on my day off.

Body attack ?

kitkat105 -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (3/2/2012 6:36:29 PM)

I think it's kind of like aerobics combined with boxing. High impact cardio.
