That is it, I am buying a core ball come the 2nd. I don't care what Mom says. I have to work my abs!

SorceressJ -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (3/16/2012 7:25:28 PM)

A core ball. Good idea for when my tax $$ gets here, thanx Shahar.
In the meantime, I am welcoming myself back to this wonderful thread with the notion of this being the first day of the rest of my life (true dat), some green tea and some light stretching. I have been very, very remiss. Fortunately, and since my bronchitis is mostly gone away now, this is easily fixed.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (3/16/2012 9:00:46 PM)

Current weight loss total: 10 lbs. Total inches lost from hips: 2.

I start my 12 week program in the morning!

1st group challenge with my PT at 6:30am. Meeting with the food coach for food diary & measuring at 9am.

I've listed my goals as: to improve flexibility & strength; tone up the areas needing toning and hopefully lose 33-35lbs.

I just gorged on chocolate chip cookies to get rid of them. [&:]

Just finished my first group challenge... which I quickly learned is just personal training but in a group.

I don't know whether I want to pass out, puke or both.

I was at about 332 at my biggest about 8 months ago. I'm down to about 288 now. I've since learned bulking up isn't a good choice for me. It did wonders at helping me pack on muscle but it also added too much fat too. And my body seems to be slow to shed it. I could speed it up some but I might lose muscle in  the process, so I'll stick with the way I'm doing it now.

So once I get to about 250 I'll just maintain that. I should get there around my birthday.

Tonight I'm working upper body. Especially my chest and my lower lats.

After Chaos came home and i went off the anti-anxt meds, i've gone from 148 to 120.

Some questions for those that have been there.

Q1, Does it make a difference if;

A, you tone your muscles as you lose weight

or

B, you lose the weight then tone what's left ?

Q2, Is there anything better than an 100% Cocoa Butter stick for stretch-marks ?
my worry-spot is the side of my girls. i already have issues there because of the hormones with Endo'. The CB stick is good, but causes break-outs.

Question 1: It makes a big difference. Losing fat is good, but adding muscle at the same time makes you look much thinner than you are.

Question 2: I'm not sure on that. Some of the ladies might know something. Also check out some bodybuilding sites. They have the same problem with stretch marks.

I want to thank you guys for starting and participating in this thread. In February back on page 50 ShaharThorne mentioned Kettle Bells. I had never heard of them before and looked them up. Being I was recovering from a shoulder injury, they seemed like a perfect piece of equipment.

At the sports store while buying the Kettle Bells, I saw a Total Gym that had a cable system. The cables allowed me the flexibility to work around my injury so I bought it too. The Kettle Bells and Total Gym really helped me work around my injury and build up my strength.

Several weeks ago I had sufficiently recovered from my shoulder injury enough to join a gym. I was shocked at how bad my muscles atrophied. I used to bench press 310lbs. I had to start with 40lbs and that was killing me. I couldn't even do pyramid sets. My lower body was up to par but my shoulder was pretty damn feeble.

I’ve been in gym 3 days a week. I'm using the machines because I’m not recovered enough for free weights yet. I gotta' use my right arm to help get the left one into the start position but I'm good to go once I get it off the base. Today I finally started pushing over 100lbs on the incline/decline press on the side with my recovering shoulder. When I left the gym I actually felt all pumped up for first time . . . like the good ol’ days.

I’ve lost 44lbs and tossed out 4 sets of clothes so far. I ‘m on the verge of dropping yet another size . . . all because of learning about Kettle Bells which allowed me to find a path around my injury. Big thanks and kisses to ShaharThorne for mentioning them and LillyBoPeep for talking with me about them.

I have seen all the effort, support and information sharing you all have put into this thread. I wanted to share my story so you know I among the members that have put it to good use. Thank you again.

I got my core ball and it needs just a bit more air in it.

Now you got me blushing, RS!

Are you saying you need your balls blown?

kitkat105 -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (4/18/2012 8:11:22 PM)

So 4 weeks in and I've lost 3lbs and 4.7% bodyfat. Pretty happy with my results so far!

ResidentSadist -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (6/27/2012 8:19:06 AM)

Yesterday I had the single most awesome workout to date. I am seriously excited about the progress I made. I truly feel there is hope at the end of tunnel now and I want to share my personal experience that perseverance has paid off. I hope it is encouraging for you.

For over 6 months I have been working around two injuries, my coccyx and a torn rotor cuff. These two things caused third problem, my back was bit off and when I would do crunches with weights, I could hear and feel the base of my spine grinding. It sounded like squeezing a handful coffee beans.

Yesterday for the first time, I had built up enough strength so that everything was in alignment and there was no crunching sounds when I did my first set. During my second set the crunching started again, I paused and rotated my back, stretched and sure enough, everything fell into alignment and the crunching went away. My back has been great all day.

I didn't lose that much weight this month. But I lost 2 inches in my waist, went from losing 44 lbs to losing 48 lbs overall and now all my body parts are working properly again. Nowadays I can even do the exercises I couldn’t do in the beginning because of the rotor cuff.

6 months . . . it took 6 damn months to get strong enough that all my parts were in proper working order. So perseverance has paid off in the end. To all of you, I just want to say, “hang in there baby”.

kitkat . . . you don't look like you can afford to lose much more. Are you at your target yet?

JstAnotherSub -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (6/27/2012 8:43:22 AM)

Well, I figured I can join this party for a bit now. I have lost 17 pounds since May 25th. I have been walking and making a concentrated effort to eat only "whole" foods, and drinking water water water.

It has been so amazing to me to notice how much better I feel after this month of treating my body better. I think turning 50 has made me face my need to get healthier, and I hope I can keep with it.

One problem I have now is, yesterday during my walk, I had a panic attack. First one in a long time, no idea where it came from, and I was about a mile from home. I damn near knocked on a door and asked the person to bring me home or call 911, because I was freaking out so bad, I couldn't breathe.

Once I started the walk home, and calmed down, all was fine, and nothing has happened since, but.....here I sit, 90 minutes past the time I normally leave for a walk, and I am afraid to go because of what happened yesterday. Yes, I know it is nuts-lol.

So, typing this may help or not, but, I am going to get up and start scrubbing baseboards and other things to burn up calories here at home, and, hopefully tomorrow, I will get my ass back out that door for my walk.

ShaharThorne -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (7/12/2012 4:02:05 PM)

I had to go to the lung doctor today and I am currently 268 pounds. I lost 11 pounds in a month. I am getting out of the motorized shopping cart at Walmart and walking about. I had my nerves in my hips burned back in May, so I am no longer have shooting pains down my legs. Still get some pain in my back and ribs but I find that if I sit down, it does go away. I did a lot of walking when I was down in Austin recently without pain (but I did sweat due to the humidity).

Now if my breasts would still be the same...LOL!

I've actually put on around 35lbs thanks to a medication I'm taking. And it all centers in 1 area.

Hope to join a gym here ASAP. And start yoga.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: The *NEW and IMPROVED* CM Biggest Loser/Health and Fitness Thread! :D (7/12/2012 4:19:33 PM)

*sigh*

Between tendonitis and lack of motivation, I regained 7 of the 10 pounds I'd lost. However, come Monday, I will be getting back on the horse since I'll have to walk up and down a flight of stairs at least twice a day. Unfortunately, using my Healthrider causes too much pain in my wrists, so I plan to save up for a treadmill. I've been wanting one for quite some time anyway.
