I know you have a history of not being able to follow a discussion, so I'll spell it out for you SLOOOOOOOOWLY...

Nobody can PROVE whether a "soul" exits or not -- thus, just as I'd stated earlier, "Some believe in the 'soul' and others do not."  Thus, it rests with one's beliefs.

Clear enough for you this time?!! [8|]

And what "policy decisions" regarding the "soul" are you referencing that have been made that you want changed?!!  Do tell... "Enquiring minds want to know!!!"

I'm following it perfectly and your gainsaying doesn't change that.

Religious nuts claim that a SOUL enters a fetus at conception and therefore abortion is a sin. I challenge them and you to prove that a soul even exists outside your holy books.
Lacking that, I see no reason why a medical procedure that saves lives in many cases whould be outlawed as they wish.

To outlaw abortion on such grounds is a violation of the US constitution.

Uhh... "War on Family Planning"?!!  Did that follow the fake "War on Women" or ???

Maybe you can expand a bit on said "War on Family Planning"?!!

Well, it's like this. With comprehensive family planning services, women don't need men to "take care of them". That TERRIFIES the crazy religious extremists.

So, they fight every day to restrict or eliminate access to comprehensive family planning services, saying that the voices in their heads TOLD THEM that "life begins at conception" ( one of the stupidest fucking things I ever heard in my life, btw, since the egg and sperm are both alive, and the suggestion that life MAGICALLY appears is just fucking retarded. ) and that they have to preserve human life ( until it's born, then fuck 'em, because the sooner they die, the sooner their souls "return to Jesus" or some crazy horseshit.

Like Mother Theresa practised, better to let 'em die but convert them to Jesus before they go than actually treat their illnesses and let them remain Hindu.

What SPECIFIC "comprehensive family planning services" are you referring to -- I'm still not clear on what you're referring to?!!

Only when egg and sperm unite does there result a new genetically complete and unique human life. That's science, bitch. The question is, at what point between conception and birth does this new and unique human life require consideration in its own right.

When the issue is posed in the terms you have chosen (which seem a reasonable enough formulation to me), an answer that suggests itself is: "when the foetus is capable or potentially capable of surviving in its own right" ie when the foetus is viable. What do you think?

Pick one. Birth Control. Morning-After Pill. Abortion. It's all part of Woman's healthcare, and the private matter between her and her physician. It's not your concern, or anyone else's unless she invites you into her life.

Otherwise, isn't the subtext that the woman is your slave and YOU get to tell her what kind of healthcare she's entitled to?

Sure. But that's not what the Public Relations campaign says. They say "Life begins at conception". If they meant that "A unique genetic combination and unique human life appears", than that's COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

The point when this new and unique human life requires consideration of it's own rights is AFTER IT'S BORN. Once it's INDEPENDENTLY VIABLE, then it's an independent entity. Until it's born, however, it's a private issue between a woman and her physician.

I can only be responsible for what I say and couch it in the simplest terms possible.

I cannot be held responsible for whether or not you are capable of understanding said words.

As I said earlier, if you are incapable of comprehending the neaning of a sentence consisting of 5, one-syllable words then hope is pretty much gone.[8|]

It's the fundies that have 'words in their head' as you call it.[:D]

I never claimed that Aetheists claim there is no 'soul'. Some might but I don't think they are monolithic in this view.

Nice try at strawmanning but it fails.

Nice new stolen porn site pic too.

When I got pregnant the first time, I was in "trouble" beyond being worried I was pregnant,. A close family friend of mine offered to get me a "private" pregnancy test, and counselling, but only if I signed a paper saying I would not consider abortion( a faith based org I found out later). I had no intention of doing so, and had a few hours counselling.. telling me I had to renew my faith in god, it would help me get thru my pregnancy and give me the strength to get thru "my blessed event".
I ran away from home and ended up in another town, long story short, eventually I had a miscarriage at five months. I only got to see him once, wouldnt let me hold him then they told me he was incinerated, the "vicar" wouldnt consider a funeral or a memorial service, it just wasnt done.
When I got back to town , sans pregnancy, in severe depression and no one wanted to know me, the whole organization treated me like I was the scum of the earth, they assumed I had gone away to have the abortion. They caused trouble with my family , my friends and completely turned me (in their minds) to an immoral slut. Yeah that was the straw that broke the camels back, their hypocrisy , their judgment, made me realise they didnt give a shit about anything but the life of the fetus. Ive never been back. who needs that amount of hate in their lives.

Hell's bells. How unbelievably primitive of all those people. That is beyond disgusting.

Thanks for clarifying that. Maybe this statement caused confusion "Religious nuts claim that a SOUL enters a fetus at conception and therefore abortion is a sin. I challenge them and you to prove that a soul even exists outside your holy books."

You keep commenting on her avatar but I am confused because I don't ever remember you mentioning the hundreds of cute little butts that grace the site. You don't really believe that the posters behind those asses are really the owners of said asses?

Once again judeo christianity thinks it has the market on what a soul is. AND that everyone should agree and abide by their dogma.

Yes. The 'religion of love' becomes noticeably unloving when its business model and strategies encounter market resistance.

A million miles away from the public fanatics, there are some Christians who are just as horrified at the malice of those fanatics as you and I are. It's sad that their voices aren't heard more often in this debate.
