Aw, fuck, I thought the Bible says a mans life begins at his first blowjob.

No....that would be a "young man's".

A man's life begins when he first gets laid.

His burden begins when he gets married.

(Which, interestingly, is also the last time he gets laid).

Okay... now that was funny!!! [:D]

In short, you are making broad assumptions about the situation and quoting the Bible only to try and sound right, without allowing for alternative viewpoints.

????

I am saying that abortion should be legal and that the decision of whether to have one or not should be an individual's decision. I am allowing for the MAXIMUM of alternative viewpoint by supporting the idea that there is freedom of religion and therefore, each individual should be free to choose their religion and to follow their religion as they see fit.

You are supporting the idea that abortion should not be legal. Please explain to me how that allows for alternative viewpoints seeing as that seems so very important to you. If abortion is disallowed is this not allowing for only ONE viewpoint? Yours?

Ultimately, this is at the heart of the argument. You either believe in religious freedom or you don't. Obviously, you don't. Therefore, for you to be raising the issue of respecting alternative viewpoints is facetious, at best. If we all agree to respect alternative viewpoints, then that leads us to my first paragraph.

I question the morality of anyone who couldn't give a shit about any baby/child but their own. Selfish.

Fuck yeah. At least I'm honest about being selfish. I worry and ME and MINE and everyone else is welcome to DO THE EXACT SAME THING.

Please keep your nose out of other people's lives, unless you're invited. Anything else is JUST FUCKING RUDE!

When I talked about your post I obviously mistakenly assumed you were on topic. I've been addressing the OP, whose initial post never mentioned abortion but rather posited an alternative view of the definition of life. I don't know why you went off on that tangent, but it's not the original topic. I was addressing your methodology because you put words in my mouth - still are - and won't even own that blatantly piss-poor tactic, which serves no point in a reasonable debate of ideas.

I personally am pro-choice and think that religion assumes the purpose of G-d, instead of letting people fuck up on their own and get judged in the hereafter (that's what's supposed to happen if one follows the Bible, right...). Now ask me about my religious views, you might be surprised.

The rest of what you said spun off from bad assumptions on your part, so I'll let you go back and try again. Needless to say, when you made the wrong assumptions about my intent, you fucked up large. I'll also own my part in not recognizing you were off-topic, that's my mistake and I'm man enough to admit and apologize for them; it doesn't excuse your replies though.

Prove the non-existence of a soul. If one cannot empirically prove that souls do not exist, then it is impossible to show that it has not entered a fetus, much less when it happens.

One either believes we have a "soul" or they don't.

That's not how Science works.

And if the soul enters at conception, explain blastocyst twinning two weeks later? Gonna suggest that souls are divisible? Or are you going to suggest that G-d, knowing that there's going to be twins equips the blastocyst with TWO souls? If THAT is the case, the G-d, knowing there's going to be an abortion or miscarriage wouldn't waste the time installing a souls in that blastocyst in the first place, would he? Unless you think that G-d is a fucking idiot or something, and I'm SURE you're not doing that.

Fascinating. You suggest you aren't interested in their posts, yet you fail to use the "hide" feature to avoid reading them, which suggests the opposite to be the case.

fucktoyprincess -> RE: Life does not begin at Fertilization or conception - says the Holy Bible (5/18/2012 2:50:44 PM)

This is on topic. Does anyone really believe we would be discussing when life begins for any other reason than to try and sort out perspectives on abortion? Let's at least be honest about why this thread is even here. You are welcome to assume the thread is here because people only want a philosophical discussion of when life begins, but I would bet my life savings that the OP is raising this for other reasons.

If you read through the thread you will see my earlier comments on scripture and interpretation of scripture. I think they may even be on the first page. This thread has evolved from that to what is clearly in my mind, a discussion about abortion.

My original post on miscarriage is post 139 and occurs after people had already been discussing pro-life movements and abortion. I was simply adding to the discussion on that. This is a thread after all.

Those of you who think otherwise can participate however you want on this thread, but it is quite clear to me what this topic is actually about. [&:]

It is a simple hot button issue....Really helpful though, kinda like the old note card that said on both sides (if you want to know how to keep and idiot busy for hours, turn card over)... It is the same people arguing the same points ad perpetum. An infinite distraction for fundes and anti-fundes-fundes

No, actually you're NOT behing "honest" -- in fact, you're being DISHONEST.

How do I know this?  Easy... simply note all the times YOU have put YOUR NOSE in another's life -- does the name "Trayvon Martin" ring any bells?!!  Certainly THEIR LIVES have no bearing on YOU and YOURS?!! --->  YOU STICKING YOUR NOSE IN OTHER PEOPLE'S LIVES.

As already stated, some believe in the "soul" and others do not.  You can't prove there is no "soul"... that is merely your belief -- just as it is my belief that we have a soul.

Maybe YOU need to utilize the "hide" function so as not to be distracted -- I don't.

That is not uncommon among those with no intellectual game.
To quote harry truman...if you can't take the heat get the hell out of the kitchen".
When you post moronic drivel I will point it out. You being unable to substantiate your assanine post will continue to snivel.
Either educate yourself and join the discussion or indulge your self imposed ignorance and your post will continue to be ridiculed by those with a three digit iq and a pulse.
Or:
You could avail yourself of the block button for all , with whom, you are unable carry on an adult discussion.

How exactly is having an opinion about a newsworthy event sticking my nose into someone else's life.

Consider that the Anti-Family-Planners are trying to pass legislation which directly impinges on the doctor/patient relationship and privacy, while I on the other hand am discussing how best to charge someone who shot a kid dead.

If you don't see the difference, then well... Let's just say that it's YOUR problem.

"Belief" -- How quaint. That's something from like the middle fucking ages, innit?

Again, that's not how Science works. Go to school and join us in the 21st century where we understand developmental biology.

Here's how Science works.

Hypothesis. There is no soul present at conception.

Test: If there WAS a soul present at conception, then twinning at two weeks would result in one twin being born without a soul.

Test Results: NO TWINS are born without a soul. Or they all are. Either way, there's no cases where one has a soul and the other doesn't, and I invite you to present anything from any reputable scientific journal to the contrary.

Hypothesis sustained: There is no soul present at conception.

No, that's NOT "how science" works.  See, in order to PROVE your hypothesis, you must provide your METHODOLOGY.

So do tell... what is your METHODOLOGY for detecting if a "soul" is present or not?!!
