I nominate this thread for Righteous Whine of the Month. Any challengers?

but you can criticize the OP?
guess that is the "do"

If you can show me once here (or anywhere for that matter) where I said I could do it better, please show me. So yes that means I criticize, but at least I am willing to admit it. Now answer Me this. Why do I get the feeling that you are
1. Handonyourneck or
2. someone who is really close to him right now?

Lol. That's just sad.

I just want to know what selection of cheeses are going to be served at today's whine tasting [:D]

I am still a bit PO about the admirers section. I wish the site never developed it...

Certainly. I will share the reasons/complaints I've encountered from clients I've done similar work for in the past.

That is other clients, not THIS site.

Lets have a look at some home truths shall we???
quote:

ORIGINAL: handonyourneck
1) Advertisers want accurate member counts. Artificially inflating your member base can cost you money and your sites credibility.

Advertisers don't give a shit as long as they get a return on their advertising.
The bigger the numbers the more they can potentially earn.
This is not some high-class designer outfit website where accuracy is preferred over numbers.

quote:

ORIGINAL: handonyourneck
2) Fake accounts that upload images use up valuable storage and bandwidth, which cost you money.

Members are able to report images.
If you don't want to use the site tools then you are part of the problem, not the solution [:D]

quote:

ORIGINAL: handonyourneck
3) If the object of a personals site (even a BDSM one) is to grow its member base (which it is), ensuring the accounts on your site are actual people should be an integral part of your business practice. Nobody wants to invest time wading through fake accounts and fake emails.

Fake accounts are on every single personals webpage across the whole internet.
Are you wanting CM to start a world-wide campaign to obliterate them??

quote:

ORIGINAL: handonyourneck
4) Exposing your members to these fake accounts leaves them vulnerable to phishing and other online scams will eventually lead to site abandonment. Not everyone is savvy enough to spot them. Being party to someone getting ripped off, even unintentionally, can hurt a site's reputation.

Nope. not at all.
Just hide and block - you can't be phished.

quote:

ORIGINAL: handonyourneck
5) It hurts your credibility with the internet at large. I don't know any business owner who would enjoy googling his business only to find entire sites devoted to exposing the very fake accounts we're discussing here.

Credibility means nothing as long as the money keeps pouring in.
Most site owners really don't give a shit as long as they stay within the law.

quote:

ORIGINAL: handonyourneck
I also don't know many business owners who would want to network their site with a site that can't keep a handle on this kind of activity. Circulation of traffic is the lifeblood of this business. I direct to you, you direct to me, we all make money.

ALL the sites are full of fakes (even the pay sites) and each is as bad as the other if you look.
You obviously haven't met many site owners.
Your assertion is false.

quote:

ORIGINAL: handonyourneck
6) Fake accounts can get you blacklisted with search engines and toolbars.

Actually, the exact OPPOSITE is true!!
The more entries you have for your site (fake or otherwise) will bring more entries to any search engine and that will usually generate more revenue in one form or another.
You obviously have no clue about e-commerce do you. [:)]

quote:

ORIGINAL: handonyourneck
Those are just off the top of my head.

And all completely WRONG!!

ETA: One extremely GOOD example of everything you say is wrong about this site (and all the other sites out there) and is arguably the most popular website is........ eBay!!!
That has sooo many fake items, fake traders, scammers.... you name it, it's got it.
And yet in the last decade it's become a world-wide phenomenon frequented by litterally billions of people every single day and features on just about every single search engine you can throw at it! [8D]

Ebay don't police their site and they specifically state in their ToS (just like CM) that they do not do so.
Are you going to argue against the most popular, most prominent, most searched website in the world??

Get a grip and stop bitching will ya.

Right. Except all of that is complete horseshit. What do you do for a living again?

I don't know.
I don't know him. I just don't see his arguements as just negative.
Just a user that has a different opinion then many here, but I can see what he means.

My question.....

How do you prove someone is fake and not deserving of an account?

Are you even on the same WEBSITE as I am? I've gotten thousands of messages and the only spam I've ever received is from the very rare jughead who eagerly contacts too many Dommes with the same message, thereby triggering the spam alert. I also browse a lot, and I'm not seeing these spam accounts you are complaining about.

quote:

ORIGINAL: handonyourneck

Seriously. How do you use a site where 95% of the messages and profile views you receive are CLEARLY spam accounts? At the very least they could flag accounts with the SAME URL in every profile description or members that claim to be "native american" and are clearly not.

Right, I'm just making it up for what reason exactly? Attention? How did the guy put it? Fanfare? That must be it.

Kana -> RE: Collarme needs to do a better job of policing its userbase (6/13/2013 1:14:37 PM)

Not taking any sides in this debate, but want to note all the "users viewing this topic."
44 to be precise...and it's been a loooooooooooong time since I've seen a thread with that many.
In and of itself, that speaks volumes. Obviously some folks out there think this is a big problem.

I would think a programmer would know the proper channels to go through to make site suggestions. Maybe thats a quirk of mine.... but a message board where the technicians or the owners are not likely to see the messages would not seem to be a likely place to make any effective site change suggestions.

Nor do I blame him for ignoring me. [:D] Im quite scary

Proper channels? People have posted responses from site admins in this very thread and from other threads.
So your issue is where I chose to voice my suggestion? I disturbed the quiet peace of your off topic sub forum?

Proper channels. Lol.

katts3 -> RE: Collarme needs to do a better job of policing its userbase (6/13/2013 1:15:29 PM)

Thats the problem, you can't weed out the fakes..It would take NSA and cia both to do that job...Bounty

And you know what? I believe you because you said so (and no, that was not meant to have any sarcasm). I never said I didn't see what he means. If you read my tag line (second one) I firmly believe that. No matter how much you try to make a site invincible to the idiots.... the idiots will still find a way, and that is pretty much the point that everyone is saying. To me its a never ending battle, and truthfully I am sure the site owners have figured that out and now they spend their time and money in areas that they can change and will help people to have a better experience on their site. nope (btw you missed the rest of the why do I get the feeling that you are but meh)

I have no problem with disagreeing at all. I was an honest assessment. If you say you are not then I take that for what its worth. You didnt answer my question though so still curious as to the answer [8D]

I'm sorry, do you want us to post photos of us holding newspapers from the Netherlands (where ravishers is from) and New York (where i am from)? Would that satisfy your absurd conspiracy theory so we can move on?

well when you report some one there is a list to chose out.
That would be the base, i guess. Someone thought of these reasons and don't want such to happen.

Also blacklisting is not allowed ( think that is in the TOS?).

You should demand that CM return all fees paid by you for membership right away! Didn't pay membership fees, you say? Then I suggest the next best thing...delete and move on with life.

Right...b/c offering suggestions to improve the user experience is completely absurd, right?

In the forums? Yes, it is completely absurd. The other users can't do a damn thing about your suggestions. We don't have the authority to implement your suggestions EVEN IF WE WANTED TO.

Really?? where are your facts??
I've just quoted one really ginormous site where your assertions don't work.

What do I do??
Ummm... I'm a retired programmer [:D]
Been programming since before the PC was even invented.
Also been involved in one of the biggest credit card expansions in the known universe.
Written a fair bit of the international banking gateway.
Most of the graphics shown in the news about the banking, floating notes, bonds etc was done by me.
Spent a good deal of time writing special stuff for the military that I'm not allowed to talk about but I can say it involved fly-by-wire and guidance systems.

It seems sir, you are spouting from your other hole and know very little.
I shall now exercise my options as you should be doing instead of whining... welcome to my iggy list [:)]

Dude. Come on. really? You yourself are talking about the fakes, so are you telling me that because I say in my profile I am from lets say NY, that means I am? I know for a fact by your postings you are smarter then that.
