hahahaha.

Some of these responses are funny. Gess maybe I better lay off, the affection shown to my loved ones. I could get a tazer to the mouth.

(p.s. random strangers are safe, no cooty swapping.)

Maybe people did not get enough hugs from their parents. Justified? A tap, hug or peck on the check? Really? Seems like more crap that people whined to the government about so they made a law. Got to have that nanny keeping all the horrible huggers at bay.

I had plenty thanks.
And I was brought up by very good parents and not from a broken home either.
I'm just not a huggy type person.

I reallt hate it when people make sweeping rationalisations like that.

The law is the law. I actually support it.
And personally, just because you like something doesn't mean the rest of the world should also like it or even accept it.

I would never kiss without an OK; but grabbing her by the nipples while yelling out "Hnnnngg!!!", I do feel that that's perfectly acceptable.

But of course .... I can't imagine anyone having a problem with that.

Are you serious? There is a law that supports nannies not hugging? Now that's wild.
I don't mean this a bit prejudice but you know what I craved when I was a kid, a fat black nanny with big boobs who would squish me when I she hugged me, cooking in the kitchen. My parents were so busy, I craved affection. Id dream up that black nanny with the hankerchief on her head who would read to me too. That hugging machine would have been my best friend.

I could be wrong but I think he's referring in sarcasm to the nanny state. the one that dictates to us how we should act and feel instead of using our own common sense.

Then if you came to the UK, be prepared to be arrested, and possibly jailed, on criminal assault charges.

Fortunately most of the people who live in the UK don't stand frigidly and threateningly when someone taps them on the shoulder or gives them a kiss on the cheek in a greeting. Most people in the UK are pretty laid back when it comes to that sort of thing.

If you 'occasioned' an incident by tapping them on the shoulder, then you could be had up for ABH but it would be hugely complicated.

GBH (grevious bodily harm) you have to wound someone and the definition of a wound under British Law is an injury that breaks the skin. There has to be blood outside of the body (not as in a bruise). That's not going to happen in an 'air kiss' or tapping someone on the shoulder.

but but but.....if your blind date decides to give you a surprise kiss at the front door and you have chapped lips and your lips break open and bleed...is it now assault?

If someone kisses me and it is not my sister or mom oy. I am meaning on the lips and not a hello on the cheek. But there was this time back in 1991 when my husband and I were still dating. He was in army and his unit threw the biggest parties and somehow they all ended up at his apartment. We were all happily drunk and I looked over and saw his read head on the couch so I plopped into his lap. I looked up and he was staring at me from the kitchen. I blinked at him then the lap I was sitting in. Woops another guy in his unit had the same color red hair. I giggled and said you are not who I thought you were and got up. It's too funny that to this day, 21 years later my sweet husband will still bring up the time I fell into another mans lap. LOL

You're right for the majority of Brits.

But.... you can't assume that stance fits all.
Some people are just not that way inclined.

And remember, physical contact doesn't have to take place to be done on an assault charge of any description.
The point I'm making here is that it is unwise to assume that everyone is reading from the same page when it comes to this type of activity.
Always err on the side of caution and play it safe - just don't do it!!

As for the GBH issue, I said in my post 'attempted GBH', not actual GBH.
And my stepson has been prosecuted for just that crime only last year.
No blood was drawn in the incident (he slapped his sister round the face - it just left a red mark).
Fortunately he got away with being in the cells overnight and a caution.

Er . . . I don't like kissing a woman who isn't my partner on the lips.

Is that OK? It's not *offensive*, is it? It's only a small thing, surely. Really, how can that cause major insult?

That is All.

Man, I sure am glad my local BDSM community does not mirror collarme. ROFL, I wouldn't ever dare to attend an event of any sort... god forbid I might brush by someone in a hallway and suddenly be a rapist.

Retraction MAYBE? Notice the word MAYBE in my statement. Sweeping generalization would have been to say that everyone that does not like hugs from others, stranger or not, did not have enough hugs from their parents.

Same can be turned around though, and it does not matter what I like or dislike in specific, but the fact there is an actual law against hugging, tapping on the shoulder or anything like that. Never knew you guys were so unruly you needed laws for that. Glad the UK was not like that when I grew up there, would never have gotten pats on the head, slaps on the back, or the other friendly gestures.

If that is true it's simply chilling. It's like giving up on being human entirely in my mind. Last I checked we were a pretty social species.

If you can't tell whether she's receptive to your kiss before your lips hit hers, you're doing it wrong. If you can't tell if she's receptive to your tongue before it jumps down her throat, you're doing it wrong.
