Rayne58 -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 7:38:21 PM)

I'm Master's carer and don't work outside the home.

I was a farmer's wife for over 20 years. I'm a qualified teacher aide and have worked as a receptionist/office admin for 6 months. I've also been a volunteer librarian at my kids' school when they were younger.

Right now I am thinking of doing an Assistant in Nursing course - the nurses in the renal ward say I am halfway qualified already, and I own my own stethoscope. [:D] One of them even calls me Doctor!

KnightofMists -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 7:49:01 PM)

I am Manager for a National Transportation company holding a variety of supervisor roles in operations for more about 14 years or so.  I identify as Dominant and Sadist within this subculture.  Thou my position allows me to have a lot more freedom to exercise my natural tendencies, I don't think a person's job is neccessarily reflective of their  involvement/label in the lifestyle.  I think what is reflective is how they carry out their responsibilities in their particular positions.

subrob1967 -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 7:57:32 PM)

I'm a semi-retired Owner/Operator of 6 semi's, (sold the biz in 94) now working at the local Dom Depot big box store. I'm also submissive.

Knight, thank you for posting.  I have an enormous amount of trucking done for one of my firms, probably spend in the neighborhood of $70 - 90,000.00 a year on the stuff, and every time I get my bill, I've always thought "WTF??? Are these guys SADISTS or WHAT???"

(Now it all makes sense)

Aileen68 -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 8:24:53 PM)

My dear James...I'm afraid I'm not the Aileen that you are searching for.
But I find your post to be very unique.  Thank you.

And thanks to all the responses.

littlesarbonn -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 8:24:58 PM)

I build databases, maintain them and then do data analysis for a hospital corporation. I see zero connection between my job and the bdsm world.

DominaBBW -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 9:10:18 PM)

I worked for most of my life as a nurse, but now own/operate my own trucking company.  I found that I enjoyed nursing positions where I was in a management role or working independently, such as in home health, much more than being a staff nurse. (That's probably because I couldn't make it through one day without wanting to take my crop to a doctor.)

Now I have the freedom of a flexible schedule, plus the bonus of employing cute truck drivers.  [;)]  Oh yeah...I'm a Dominant.

I am an administrative analyst.  I manage the budget, run and analyze reports, and keep our department running smoothly.

I was just wondering what kind of work you all do?  And whether or not you're dominant, submissive or switch?
Do you think there's any correlation between the type of work one chooses to do and their dominant/submissive personality?

This slave works from home for an online gaming company. I work as part of the writing team.

srllile7 -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 10:33:01 PM)

I work at a battered womens shelter and i am a sub.  At work it definatly shows through there are the ones of us who tell the women what to do with an iron fist and then me who loves them and befriends  in hopes theyll do it out of mutuall respect lol..  not always the case but i cant get the yelling thing down.

Tikkiee -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 10:52:43 PM)

Grad student who also works for the university full time and a life-guard part time. Neither submissive nor slave; just a masochist.

SusanofO -> RE: Jobs (7/2/2006 11:31:14 PM)

I am a submissive (but am contemplating whether I could be a switch, or not).
I am not sure right now as I am kind of in a "transitional phase". I am thinking of getting a real estates license. Of course then if I move I'd need to take an exam again to get a new license, but a lot of the information remains the same so it might be worth it).

I was a marketing research analyst for about 10 years; I worked for a division of General Motors that sells marine and diesel engines and equipment in the U.S. and in foreign countries, and then for a regional department store chain and a (now defunct) telemarketing company. I also have "free-lanced" doing that kind of work for small business owners.

When I did that kind of work, mostly I wrote questionnairres and then ran them through various departments to make sure people knew how to obtain (and sometimes use) the resulting "data". Plus, I analyzed other people's "data" they gathered and then compiled it into some kind of a report for some honcho or other. Depending on the project, for me it was either really interesting or really boring - but I guess that can be said of any job.

I do probably an above average amount of volunteer work; with abused and neglected unmentionables and also (although I am taking a break from it for 6 months, mostly to escape being appointed an officer in this volunteer organization, hehe - I've been an officer enough times and just don't want to do that for awhile anymore) - I help write grants for an organization that helps women who want to further their education go back to school. I will become active in that again in about 6 months, I am hoping.

It would be interesting to see if there is any correlation between the kind of work people do and their bdsm orientation. My gut instinct is to say "no", since many people need to pay their own bills and end up doing jobs they might not consider their "ideal" job.  But who knows?

(Ummm.... I'm gonna be nice... err.... well... *bites tongue* ok maybe not.... if we're only mediocre artists, could we be considered sadistic to expect the public to view our work?)

Probably. I know it's subjective but there are more sadistic bastards than me making far more money than me. Perhaps we aren't sadistic enough?

SusanofO -> RE: Jobs (7/3/2006 2:07:08 AM)

I think there might be a more likely correlation between someone's bdsm orientation and their concept of an "ideal job" (mine would be belly dancer available for corporate events) - joke* - but maybe not...[;)]  The possibilities are probably almost endless, given enough time (and money).

pistachio -> RE: Jobs (7/3/2006 2:12:59 AM)

i was a youth and disabilities worker. Now i'm a customer service officer...still working with injured and disabled people though. i've always thought there seems to be a lot of nurse type people in the lifestyle.

supersub69 -> RE: Jobs (7/3/2006 4:47:56 AM)

Hi

I'm a sub male. I work as a financial adviser, running my own business. I was previously an area sales manager for an insurance company. Most of my work involves making desicions for other people.

I find that being able to come home and submit, acts as a great form of stress relief.
