We have plenty of idiots, waifs, strays, out-and-out lunatics, social misfits, sadists and the generally bored in this country who take pleasure in indulging in gratuitous violence. It's not a preserve of the United States and I doubt people in this country would argue otherwise.

Taking into account the whole package, I would say the United States compares favourably with the vast majority. Can't do everything right.
