Awww. That was cute.

(Sorry, Red. I like the little things.)

Not when you have a phobia of them.

Embarrassing, but true.

I cannot go to my best friends house since she got a pet bunny.

I used to have 2 house bunnies. When I was selling my apartment in London one very nice lady took one look at my bunnies fast asleep on their bed next to the hearth and ran out screaming. That was the first I knew there was such a thing as bunny phobia!

<Fast reply>

You know, if we could get any of the sock puppets that are all over the forum on the thread, we'd have no problem making it to twenty.

Dear New Mod-type Person,

I just can not resist. I would like to offer you this emoji in empathy. [sm=mop.gif] This is not intended to be a smart ass remark. It's just from what I'm seeing, you're definitely getting some work on your plate. I sincerely hope that you do get some help in doing the job or obtain a very large bottle of Bayer aspirin because you are going to need one (or both) of those options very soon.

In the meantime, might I suggest that you not overload yourself by partaking in frequent comedy relief breaks? Some of those old threads are just as funny now as when they were current. Plus, you've got the super duper excellent stash at your disposal. Have at least a little fun and a few laughs.

@LadyPact

Thank you. Luckily, I do take time away from the boards for real life hijinks and laughter. I have, however, saved some of those links for the dreary days of winter.

I do appreciate your concern.

I just keep reminding myself it is a slow process, step-by-step.

(Gentle kidding about to ensue.)

Are you telling me that you don't have just a little soft spot in your heart for some of the truly outstanding funny stuff that's been here over the years? Not even just a bit?
Some trainwreck of a thread starters (and I don't mean the picture one) have been in a class all of their own. Tap, tap, tap is just as funny today as the first time and the crisps thread is still a quick fifteen minutes of hilarity.

(OK. I know that's not what you meant. Just trying to be funny.)

RS wrote the booklist thread. I was the person who recommended it to be a sticky several years back because it's a great resource. These days, there are more articles and such on the net. Still, you never know who would like one of those older books.

Rule posts? I agree with you. During any of the various Mod regimes, I've never been big on Admins putting information that members need in the middle of some thread, somewhere. In the course of this thread, I believe the new Admin said something about the ticket system not working right now. That's something that should be an Administrative Announcement post. Not buried in the middle of an Off Topic thread.

FAQs/Stickies? I'm half with you, half not. If the Administration writes any opinion based thread that is not the policy of the site, it's interpreted as standard of the site. That's not especially the best idea.

On the other hand, any individual poster could create any thread they wanted to and ask for contributions of good reference threads. If it's good, they can ask for a thread to be made a sticky if it is serving a purpose to be one.

By the way, new Mod-type person, if you are listening... You have a current inconsistency in the restored Ask A Mistress FAQ. The Professional Service section has been removed, so you might want to take it out of the reference thread.

I think if this were a site that uses some sort of upvoting in which all members had a say as to what threads or posts are given prominence, that would be okay. In the same way that any member could keep posting on this thread in order to keep it in the active list. I'm not crazy about a thread being given special designation because a select few of the members like it. A small group of longtime posters doesn't necessarily reflect the member base accurately. So for the site admin to mark a thread with some sort of special designation because ten people somewhere in the forums like that point of view, or think it's a hysterical story, tells me that the site admin isn't being very discriminating about what they're putting out there as significant. And perhaps that's the way they want it. But personally, I consider it misleading.

And again, I really don't mean to be all grumpy about it, especially if we're talking about some of the funnier threads in the past. But much like dominance, submission, slavery, and kinky, the definition of "funny" is not the same for everyone. So, if the site admin believes something to be funny or important, then as admin (or owners, or whatever), it's their site, have at it. But if a small group of people get to say what site admin considers to be funny or important, then ... eh, it just seems a little off-color to me. It almost seems like we are being possessive of the forums. Which maybe is understandable, given the absence of a lot of us from a place we used to come to daily.

I actually sorta agree with this view.
As someone who is bisexual- 20 something- bedroom only- slutty the whole thing- I rarely find my views are all that similar to the majority here. Which is GREAT! Like thats what makes the world go round to me. Thats like the point of the discussion board I think.

To me the most interesting 10 page threads are ones that get there naturally because people are discussing and exploring differences of opinion.

But thats just me. I'm not really sure what's right, because I think some of these things can be helpful. And like certainly I think searching for content on this forum is needlessly difficult and I think its great if its right there- but I also don't know that I necessarily think my views will align with stuff that gets stickied.

I don't know though. I share your feelings Kaliko.

LadyPact -> RE: -= Stop it, RS. Dont be an ass=- (10/6/2015 3:13:23 PM)

I'll happily say that I was glad to hear the opinions on the sticky idea. If folks can come up with those threads of good content more power to them.

I still have a soft spot in my heart for the comedy threads though. Anything that makes a person laugh until tears run down their cheeks is still good. [:)]

Your halo is dented and rusty.

angelikaJ -> RE: -= Stop it, RS. Dont be an ass=- (10/9/2015 5:24:33 PM)

A suggestion (for when you have the time): Since forum rules (unlike the TOS) are somewhat fluid, at some point it might be nice to have an updated set of forum guidelines.

M38284 -> RE: -= Stop it, RS. Dont be an ass=- (10/10/2015 4:07:49 AM)

@angelikaJ

Yes, I plan to. I know it seems I'm moving slow as dirt, but I'm cleaning up a lot of mess (an unhiding profiles and unblocking people) every day.

The forums self-moderate relatively well, so I'm trusting you amazing people to hold down the fort until I can get to something official.

And THANK YOU very much for that.

angelikaJ -> RE: -= Stop it, RS. Dont be an ass=- (10/10/2015 4:13:52 AM)

It doesn't seem like you are moving slowly at all.
I know you are extremely busy.

I am heartened by your level of responsiveness.

You know, I quoted this to The Man the other day and he didn't know what I was talking about.

I couldn't remember who did it. But now I can show him it. Thanks.
