Perhaps I am missing it then.

I get what Tempting said because I used the same analogy on another thread about this very same subject.

I was told it was the wrong analogy, agreed... but the more I thought about it I tend to think it does apply.

We really can't do much about getting junk mail through "snail mail". We gets loads of mail from lots of advertisers, who solicit us with their "attractive offers" & we really have no way to stop these attempts to gain our attention so when we get those offers that we don't want, we toss them out with the garbage (we ignore them)... Yet on CM, we have mail controls & we have a written profile that allows us to define many more parameters of what we want & what we don't want from others who are about to contact us. Because of this ability to screen we should be able to do whatever we wish with the unwanted solicitations that reach our inbox.... & because of this we are completely within our right & we are in now way being rude if we choose to ignore them.

Just like the advertisements we get in the mail, these people online who are sending out emails to us in order to gain our attention are advertising self & anyone who knows anything about marketing nows that you will not get anything remotely close to a 100% response rate on your advertising efforts.
