It's the instigation and invitation to struggle that turns me on. Forcing her to let go of the princess image, and become some sort of sordid animal-with no way to deny it.

Very well said, the whole post - just wanted to make a comment on this part of it. Often it goes beyond taking someone to a place where they can't deny the animal into the place where they actually embrace it and desire it and at times, exhibit behavior that will draw out the animal in their counter part for the specific purpose of being able to get into their own animal skin just so that skin will be ripped to shreds by a bigger, more vicious predator.

Okay, I need to quit posting to this thread because it's getting too warm in here.

Celeste

In my experience animals are not really "violent" in that most do not hunt if they are not hungry and there seems to be no "joy" in harming things they cannot eat. I do not think of "violence" as anything but a human trait.... perhaps that is what separates us from the animals rather than being "civilized"?

I cannot resist.......but want to keep talking about natural sadism. Ever seen a cat playing with a mouse it left there after it was done? I have.

Yes I have seen this, but that is not the same as killing things one cannot eat.. surely a cat does not kill things it cannot eat... it might kill something it can because it has the instinct to do so.... I see a big difference in the two things....

Only humans kill their own kind on purpose.

Now, you know what some will call that behaviour......

Who says they can't? Ever read about borneo? And do you know that herons have a habit of just practice spearing fish ,even after they can't eat any more? It's hardy exclusive to humans.

I am very attracted to a controlled aura of violence. Someone who has the capacity, but is rational in its use. Out of control violence is a huge turn off for me. Add control and rational thinking to the mix, and it is one of my biggest turn ons.

Does that attraction soley manifest itself in BDSM, or in vanilla situations?

I am attracted period. I guess I'm not sure how to compartmentalize the different parts of myself.

I heard someone say once, "I want a man who would be capable of killing me but would never actually follow through with it..."

A male friend of mine once told me of my ex-husband who is a third degree black belt (who could fly off the handle quickly at me) that I should actually have a healthy respect for a man who could kill me 50 different ways, but opted not to do it.

I was never sure how to take that...  Kinda twisted and freakish, but true all the same.

They eat fish, they just cannot eat anymore at that time.... and yes I see a difference between killing things one cannot eat for blood lust and killing things out of instinct and hunger. Like I said, only humans kill their own kind out of violence...

Cite animals that kill their own kind on purpose...

I will cite one sort, chimps have had "wars", but later the anthropologists studying this behavior decided that it was an aberration due to human beings intervening in their lives.

Ants are insects, not animals

Male lions taking over a pride will kill the offspring of the defeated male they displaced. They do not eat them-they murder.

But a cat's intent is not to harm, it just wants to play with the mouse, it just so happens that the cat doesn't ascribe to SSC or RACK or the mouse is twuely a no limits toy....then the mouse dies as a bi-product of the play not because the cat intended to kill it.

It is not out of malice that they do this, it is out of wanting to mate with the female because she will not mate as long as she is taking care of cubs... an instinctive kill. I do not see this killing as "murder"...

That act is done so that the lionesses become reproductively ready sooner for them to mate with.  This line of reasoning could go on forever…if we are talking ‘violence’, the animal kingdom is best left at the discover channel.  What I think would be more on point would be HUMAN interactions.  Unless anyone has some 'animals gone kinky' stories,in which case I'll get FOX on the phone and we can start a TV show up; they need all the reality shows they can get with the strike.

Why ask me for examples, if all you really want is affirmation of what you *want* to believe?  Finding ways to dodge my information and trying to bend it to fit your cozy little world is pretty futile.

I would not say that after disturbing a group of fire ants a time or two
