ORIGINAL: TheHeretic If people are abusing sick time as "sick of working" time, I can understand why they would need to crack down. Of the lot of us, one person does abuse it. So they should take it up with her, not treat the group of us as though we're in grade school. quote:
There has to be a balance. As I'm seeing the situation presented here, Vida, my impression is that your employer may have a point. Go ahead and rebel, though. It's not like there would be 400 applicants at the door if they decide you're the one to make an example of. Totally agree on the balance part. I average 50+ hours a week. I worked all of Memorial Day weekend because of a "crisis project." The last time I called in sick was last October. The last time I took a scheduled day off was....um...in January, I think. The last time I needed to leave early (without logging in later at night and working a few more hours) was....well, I can't remember. There are a lot of hiring managers at the company who would love to talk to me about joining their team, because, I must say, I'm great at what I do, and I work my ass off. So yeah, when I'm given a lecture about only working 48 hours and then told I'm not allowed to be sick...I'm gonna have a problem with it. I'm not seeing any balance here. That's exactly the problem.
