Lauber's sisters are on record as saying they have no knowledge of the incident. Most victims of bullying rarely tell their family about what is going on. So the fact that his sisters did not know is not actually that meaningful one way or the other.

Lauder's sisters made the following statement:

"The family of John Lauber is releasing a statement saying the portrayal of John is factually incorrect and we are aggrieved that he would be used to further a political agenda. There will be no more comments from the family."

This to me says that the sisters are disputing that he is gay. They are only saying the portrayal of their brother is incorrect. They aren't actually addressing the bullying incident recalled by others. Was Lauber gay? Who knows? He might have been gay, but not out. He might have been straight. If one believes the classmates who say the incident occurred, he was bullied for essentially looking effeminate. I would categorize this as gay bullying regardless of whether the victim is actually gay or not. The bullying was based on a rigid definition of gender.

As for bullying in schools, usually bullying occurs outside the purview of teachers, administrators, and even most of the students. Only a very few students are usually first hand witnesses to bullying events. The fact that others at the school did not witness this incident tells us nothing about whether or not the incident occurred.

If the incident (or other similar incidents) did not occur, then what exactly is Romney apologizing for with his statement? Does it not strike anyone else as odd that Romney would apologize for incidents that never occurred instead of just saying they never happened? If Romney didn't attack Lauber, I highly suspect he attacked others in similarly nasty ways - and that is why Romney is apologizing. So insert "victim" for Lauber, and I'm sure some kids at his school were subject to his nastiness.

Well, qood question. Here is the text of "his apology".

He is not referring to the incident this forum is "debating" in this instance, but in the same article he talks to the incident you and others are "debating" here:

Romney has responded in the best way possible about a fictional incident thrown out by the main-stream media and embelished with anti-gay spins a day after Obama anounces he is for gay marrage. Clearly this "charge" is lame and transparent to all and has not affected Romney's rise in the polls and may even have helped him, especially with his calm and well reasoned response.

Of course it is fair to look at Willards record as Gov. and see he was no friend to the LGBT community. He abolished the Governors Commission on Gay and Lesbian youth (he refused to continue it's funding). It was created by a GOP Governor. He attempted to end the Gay Pride parade because of indecency and inclusion of the transgender community

He has a long history of cutting funding to groups who support the LGBT community so, if what all these other people are saying who took part in the activities in HS, Willard has not changed his POV very much

I know that I dont remember everything from high school - but I sure as hell would remember if I had "cut someones hair" and participated in a hate crime. This guy is full of shit.

I'm quite aware of that. My question is why the heck don't the Republicans want to actually deal with those 10 items that you brought up? Those are the things that the American people deem important. Had they done so 4 years ago, there is an excellent chance that we wouldn't have Obama to kick around right now.

If they don't start on what Americans feel are the important issues instead of Religious claptrap, I have a feeling that we're going to have to put up with another 4 years of 'hopey changey'.
